In Sampling Techniques for Modern Musicians, Yeuda Ben-Atar, also known as Side Brain, takes you into the always-innovative, often-revolutionary, sometimes-controversial world of this now-essential audio practice. From basic fundamentals such as “What is a sampler?”, “How do we use a sampler?”, to the broadest and most complicated questions, “How do we sample musical instruments?”, “What and when should we sample?”, this course serves as a guided exploration of the diverse equipment and methods that make much modern music possible, teaching you to create and employ your own samples along the way.

A multi-instrumentalist with experience in virtually every genre, Yeuda permeates his pedagogy with an infectious enthusiasm for music and those who create it. His work as an instructor, musician, and producer endow him with a unique perspective on how we can best engage with and learn about sampling. Sampling Techniques for Modern Musicians is the perfect primer for anyone with a vested interest in music-making, especially through sampling!

Good presenter!

Love the way he got straight to the point, making the videos short, but with great content. Time is money. Is great to know this guy is not wandering around.

Great introduction to Sampling

I am an intermediate level producer with a fair amount of experience with Ableton Sampler and Kontakt, however I needed some remediation on Simpler since I first learned about Simpler on V 8 and I wanted to catchup. The presenter did a great job for the beginner and more experienced electronic musician - particularly with granular synthesis, multi-sampling, round-robin sampling and Sample clearing. I look forward to Yeuda delivering - Advanced Techniques for the Modern Musician.

Straight to the meat

Set out very clearly and logically. Straight to point and the videos are not so long so that you can absorb the information info better. Very good tutorial and will definitely look forward to more from this tutor.

Good series

First time I've seen this presenter on Groove3. If new, a welcome addition. Content was good and the length of each video wasn't too long. For someone who's not done too much or any sampling, a must watch and for more experienced sampling artists, you might find something you didn't know. Although heavily focused on Ableton Live, the concepts are generic enough to use on any sampler.
