Product Overview
Reason expert Paul Ortiz brings you the beginner’s guide to using Reason to make your first song! Paul starts with a blank Reason session and walks you through the entire process of creating and arranging your first song, along with basic mixing and mastering practices.
Paul begins by welcoming you and then jumps right in, revealing Reason’s Block system for recording and arranging, and sketches out a basic drum part.
Next, you’ll see how to add synth parts and automate them to further shape their sound over time, for a more interesting performance. Paul then shows you how to create additional song Blocks, as well as some basic patch design and additional synth layers.
Paul now demonstrates how to tweak the synth sounds, add send effects into the mix, create and use sidechaining, how to setup and record real live instruments, and finally, how to mix your tracks and vocals, and apply a mastering plug-in to the whole mix for a professional sound and overall level!

Should be essential viewing for any beginning/intermediate Reason user
This is the kind of tutorial series you'll find yourself returning to over and over again, not just for the information or production techniques, but also for inspiration. Very few educators manage to find the balance that Paul manages so effortlessly here (and his other videos). He's the reason I subscribed to Groove3.

GOLDEN GOLDEN GOLDEN
Blown the F away. Paul is a gangster. We need more Paul now. Can you get Paul to do a 5 hour masterclass on vocals and all sorts of crazy things? Paul is an instant hit. He knows his stuff and I was following along like it was so easy. I truly believe Paul should bring out some more classes and not just in Reason. Keep it up Paul, this is awesome material.

Enjoyable Overview of Reason
The video provides a good broad overview of the capabilities of Reason. The series is not for step-by-step guidance on using Reason as it moves pretty quickly. That being said, as a new Reason user, I enjoyed seeing a seasoned user show what it can do. The dreamwave-styled track he creates sounds great and this course is actually likely worth it just for showing the process of putting together a song. You get to see it come together piece by piece.

Smoke Coming Off My Speakers
The track made in this video is FIRE. Reminds me of some of 80s tracks I used to hear as a kid.
