Studio guru Paul Ortiz brings you an in-depth look at using VST plug-ins inside Reason 9.5 or higher. See everything you need to know, plus cool tips and tricks that will make using VST plug-ins even better, now that you can use them in Reason.
Paul starts with the basics, such as how to add and access your VST plug-ins on your computer and Reason, and then how to call them up inside Reason and load them into a Rack.
Next, you’ll explore using VSTs in Reason as Insert and Send FX, including Macro Programming, Automating Parameters and Configuring VSTs as a Multi-Out device.
You’ll then get a crash course on using Control Voltage or CV within Reason to control your VST plug-ins, and more advanced ideas such as how to use Reason's flexible audio routing to create a Side Chaining Effect.
Then you’ll discover cool ways to use Reason’s Combinator device to create everything from simple layered sounds to key splits, to full melody sections that you can arrange on the fly with your control surface.
Wrapping it up, you’ll see how to build a drum machine out of DUNE 2, as well as how to construct a four voice poly-synth where every voice is an individual Serum patch!
See the individual tutorial descriptions below for more info. If you’re ready to get the most out of your VST plug-ins inside Reason 9.5 or higher, this is the one to watch!

Hi Paul....absolutely loved the tutorial. I am slowly unpacking the possibilities but I am going to have to view the material a few more times to digest the amount of information. Excited to travel this journey with you. It's giving me the courage to move outside my technical comfort zone.

This is one of those "must see" videos if you intend to use Reason going forward in a serious way. It is the addition of the ability to use VSTs in Reason that has brought it up an order of magnitude in professional usefulness. So if you want to get the very best you can do out of Reason at the professional level you MUST employ VSTs. This is a GREAT first overview and is also pretty "side" info-rich.

Thank you, thank you, thank you
Much needed intro tutorial to the awesome power just added to Reason. My opinion, it has made Reason the number one DAW out there, but tutorials/manuals on how to use are mostly not developed yet. For example, I spent half a day trying to route multiple instruments in one version of Kontakt to separate MIDI channels (only to come to same conclusion as Paul). Just watching gives me ideas and opens up the world of Reason to me. More please!!!!
