    Tutorial 1

    Get It Ready

    11:20

Let?s get the plugin ready to tune vocals. We will need to make some decisions early on.

  • image description

    Tutorial 2

    Set It Pt. 1

    7:43

Now let?s look at how Waves Tune Real-Time works. The two main parameters are Speed and Note Transition.

  • image description

    Tutorial 3

    Set It Pt. 2

    10:07

Once Speed and Note Transition times are set we can begin working with the fine tune controls called Vibrato and Tolerance. These help with tuning artifacts.

    Tutorial 4

    GO

    10:42

Finally, let?s hear what Waves Tune Real-Time can do. We will also look at some additional tools available to use when working with a not so consistent artist.

Scottie Dugan shows you all about Wave's wonderful Waves Tune Real-Time plug-in and goes step by step on how to tune your vocals for that modern polished sound!

Scottie begins by going over the user interface and discusses why you'll need to make some specific decisions before tuning your vocals or instruments, and then reveals the main parameters Speed and Note Transition, which allow you to begin to dial in your tuning amount and style.

Fine tuning is next, and Scottie shows you how to adjust Waves Tune Real-Time to remove or add tuning artifacts. After that, it's time to see it work in-action. Scottie tunes up some vocals as well as covers some tips for working with inconsistent vocalists, making sure you're able to handle any tuning needs.

Not very helpful

This is too short and doesn't cover correction in editing properly. At least not to someone who got used to Waves Tune. Also, it's just about impossible to hear the difference between the uncorrected and the corrected vocals, the differences are so subtle it really doesn't help me to see what the various tweaks are doing

I am a: Semi-Pro, Musician, Producer, Audio Engineer, Sound Designer, Mastering Facility, Sound for Film/TV, Pro Tools

Response from Customer Service:

Hi and thank you for leaving us a review! It is certainly appreciated.
You are correct in that this tutorial doesn't cover everything that this plug-in can do but all the basics are shown so it will get you up and running. I'm happy to add a customer request for a more advanced tutorial covering even more aspects of this software.

Nicely done and very well explained!

Definitely provided me with another tool in my bag in order to get the job done. I'm a huge fan of combining Melodyne alongside Auto-Tune to obtain the most natural sounding results, but now it seems that I get the best of both worlds with just this one plugin! What a time saver!

1. When did you start dabbling in music?

I grew up taking classical piano lessons, so music has always been a part of my life. It started out as a daily chore and eventually evolved into a passion. Now I am very lucky to call it my profession.

2. What training have you had?

After thirteen years of private piano lessons I decided to pursue a formal degree. Two years in and I realized it wasn't for me. From that point on a began teaching myself and taking various online courses that offered subjects that excited me. I've gotten to learn and sit under individuals who are way better than I am.

3. When did you get into recording?

Ableton Live and the ability to make music with a computer were the two biggest reasons I didn't continue pursue a formal degree. I was in a band, we cut a DIY "garage album" and that started the obsession. The once obscured world of synths, hardware and software was now overwhealming as I transitioned away from a piano only mindset.

4. People you have worked with/for?

I have the great privilege to be working with Ableton as one of their Ableton Certified Trainers. Being a part of that community has been really amazing and life changing. I have yet to work with anyone rich and famous... but I have a feeling one day some of these crazy talented people will be. I get to work with students and artists who are chasing their musical dreams. I like the purity and passion that comes with that.

5. Why are you so good at training people?

Well, I've always been told that I'm a good teacher but I hated talking to people I didn't know. It took a while to get over those introvert tendencies and fear of public speaking and now I can't get enough. Watching a student get that lightbulb breakthrough or seeing an ignition of passion after the transfer of knowledge creates such a sense of fulfillment for me. I can't not teach.
