Product Overview

Adam Pollard aka Multiplier returns in this power packed video tutorial series of best practices for producing modern, cutting edge EDM music. You'll learn 10 of the most important things to do in your EDM tracks that will make your productions legit and for real!

The series begins with a primer on how to reference your master EQ to pink noise to insure that your mids are balanced, how to do clean sidechain compression, followed by how to use at least one vocal sample with an identifiable phrase as part of your track to give it focus.

Multiplier then shows you how to do lively filter sweeps using LFO modulation and how to tune your kick drum to the key of your track.

Moving on, Multiplier explains why it's important for you to adjust your monitoring volume every twenty minutes or so, and how to use a sends-only sidechain to clean up your kick.

After that you'll explore how to set your track levels relative to the kick drum, as well as how to mix through band pass filters to focus on specific frequencies that bring out the spirit of your track in each band.

Finally, Multiplier discusses why you need to leave headroom for the inevitable mp3/AAC conversion of your track and the best way to do it.

If you're new to producing EDM music, or an experienced hand looking for a series of best practices, don't miss "Top Ten EDM Do's" today!

Good Tips

Great tips and info. I would have preferred a more standard bass sound on the sidechain tutorial as it was hard to hear what it was doing with such a quirky sound.

Very helpful workflows

These short video's are really helpful, because they target some of the questions I am facing while making my tracks. I am a beginner and I am always wondering how loud the kick and the other elements around it should be. The video 'Levels relative to kick' really answers this question in a way that suits me very well. The answer is very practical and you will come far even by only looking at the meters. That is really great because I have not a good feeling/ears for music. (I am only making music because I like it, not because I am good at it) And that is just one video out of ten that is very helpful. I am a beginner, but I guess that even more advanced producers probably do not know all these practical insights/workflows. So this series can be useful for everyone.

1. When did you start dabbling in music?

I started producing music just over 5 years ago, right about when Skrillex's Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites EP dropped.

2. What training have you had?

I'm fully self-taught, and haven't had any formal training. I use online resources and learn a lot by talking to other producers about how they do things too.

3. When did you get into recording?

(same answer as number 1)

4. People you have worked with/for?

DJTechTools, iZotope, Output, CAPSUN Pro Audio, Loopmasters, Plugin Boutique, Industrial Strength, 5Pin Media

5. Why are you so good at training people?

I've had a lot of experience in the EDM space, from producing tracks and sample packs that have charted on sites like Beatport, through to DJing internationally and running a record label. And on the training side I've produced thousands of tutorials, and also tutor people one to one.

Rated 5.0 out of 5 by from Adam Pollard is a Great Asset to Groove3 This is guy is good! Sure he has the English equivalent of a Chicago accent, but to me, he's far more interesting, more straight-forward, easier-to-understand, has less in-video voice-over edits/jumps, delivers quality messages, and repeats and emphasizes things much better than some of the other content authors! Overall, I thought this was a great video set when coupled with the "Top Ten EDM's Don'ts" video series. Good job Adam! A+
