Good, except do your research on "when"

Groove are not dating their tutorials. So when you invest your time in learning something you see that the software may have been updated and actually does it differently. That was the case here. I don't blame the tutor who is good but this is a deliberate ruse by Groove to make their tutorials "timeless" so they can keep selling them. However the audio software world and audio professionals don't work that way. It's simply not good enough that we haven't a clue as to the relevance and appropriateness of lessons, and subsequently have to do our own research as to how up to date these tutorials are. It becomes hit and miss. Groove must be the only company I know who put a (c) copyright sign beside their content and don't date it. Could you imagine a composer doing this?

Response from :

Thanks for your review! Just so you know, these Studio One MIDI Guru Guide videos are shot in Studio One version 5.1. There were mostly bug fixes in 5.1.1 which is the latest version as of today as noted here: https://forums.presonus.com/viewtopic.php?f=151&t=42503

Therefore there were not any changes that would affect this video series at all.

Regarding our videos, if a video series is no longer applicable to a version of the software it represents, we will state so, such as in our Logic videos:

https://www.groove3.com/tutorials/Logic-Pro-Explained

https://www.groove3.com/tutorials/Logic-Pro-X-Explained

Also, many of our tutorials have the version number right in the title as well:

https://www.groove3.com/tutorials/Studio-One-5-Explained
https://www.groove3.com/tutorials/Studio-One-4-Explained
https://www.groove3.com/tutorials/Studio-One-4.5-Update-Revealed
https://www.groove3.com/tutorials/Studio-One-4.6-Update-Explained
https://www.groove3.com/tutorials/Cubase-10-Explained
Cubase 10: Editing MIDI Explained®
Cubase 10: Editing Audio Explained®

Another example, many of our Pro Tools videos are still relevant after 10 years, because AVID hasn’t changed the way its features and functions work.

Regarding your comment "this is a deliberate ruse by Groove to make their tutorials "timeless" so they can keep selling them.”, this is not our intent. We are actually trying to make sure users can continue to benefit from information that is still valid, even if a version number might have changed.

We feel we do a great job of staying current with all the major DAWs, and when there is a major update that warrants videos, we cover it. Just look at our release history on the site. Thanks again!
