-
20:17
Levels & Panning
In this video, Larry sets the overall levels of the mix and pan positions.
-
7:06
Filtering & Subtractive EQ Pt. 1
Larry uses Pro-Q 2 to remove high and low frequencies from sounds to focus them and ensure the correct sounds occupy the correct space.

20:34
Filtering & Subtractive EQ Pt. 2
Larry picks up where he left off in the last video and increases the size and depth of the mix.
-
14:25
Filtering & Subtractive EQ Pt. 3
Larry finishes up the filtering and subtractive EQ.
-
11:09
Compression Pt. 1
Larry uses functional compression using Pro-C 2 to tame unruly peaks. He explores using fast attack and release times and using the ratio and threshold to dial in the correct amount of gain reduction.
-
13:27
Compression Pt. 2 - Layered Compression
In this video, Larry layers compressors to increase solidity and get the most out of his sounds.
-
18:23
Compression Pt. 3 - Positional Compression
Positional Compression - Larry uses fast and slow attacks to help position sounds in the front/back perspective. He also shows how to use musical release times to create groove movement in the mix.
-
10:11
Additive EQ & Harmonic Saturation Pt. 1
Using Pro-Q 2, Larry pushes sounds so they reach out of the speakers or sink back in the speakers. He then creates separation between elements using additive EQ ans uses Saturn to drive certain frequency ranges to increase density.
-
18:41
Additive EQ & Harmonic Saturation Pt. 2
Larry picks up where he ledt off in the last video and uses Saturn to drive certain frequency ranges to increase density.

Larry uses Pro-DS to tame sibilant sounds. He also uses Pro-DS going into effects chains.
-
11:08
Parallel Compression & Saturation Pt. 1
In this video, Larry pumps up the mix using heavy compression and saturation using Pro-C 2 and Saturn in parallel. He then EQs these parallel chains using Pro-Q 2 to add density to certain frequency areas.
-
9:26
Parallel Compression & Saturation Pt. 2
Larry coninues from the point he left off in the last video.
-
13:34
Automation
Larry automates the mix elements so that everything has space to breathe and he keeps the listeners focus clearly.
-
14:30

Product Overview
In these in-depth video tutorials, studio pro Larry Holcombe shows you how to use FabFilter's amazing plug-ins to mix a track from start to finish. Shot in Logic Pro X, the information is applicable to any DAW and will show you how to use FabFilter plug-ins effectively and creatively.
Larry starts off by welcoming you and sets the stage for the video series, outlining what to expect, and gives you a play through of the cool 80's inspired song that will be mixed.
Larry then jumps in and covers important topics such as how to prepare your song for mixing, and setting levels and panning. He then gets into filtering and additive EQ, followed by different kinds of compression techniques.
Using spatial effects, doubling backing vocals, reverb and saturation in the mix are then all demonstrated using FabFilter plug-ins including Pro-Q 2, Pro-C, Pro-R, Pro-DS and others!
Automation and Mix Stem Processing are then shown, wrapping up the series and producing a professional mix that you can be proud of.
See the individual tutorial descriptions below for more info. Extremely good concepts. A great lesson in gain staging
This was a great learning for me. Great approach to mixing and getting the gist of how fabfilter plugins work. I would get the lesson just for the concepts even without fabfilter

Best so far...
Very informative and entertaining. I enjoyed it so much that I found the song he was mixing and bought it. Very mellow groove to this particular tutorial. I was able to watch from beginning to end and will watch it again and take notes next time. It is relatable to any DAW with similar plugins.

This is SO GOOD!
It can be dreadfully difficult navigating the new music industry (the old is blown up, for better and for worse). I have been so blessed in my life to have crazy great engineers sitting in the chair next to me making me sound better than I am. They are no longer there. Larry is the perfect muse for all of the rest of us who hear something in our heads but haven't the first clue what knobs to twist or faders to pull to release those sounds. What I love about his process is he is always engineering and instructing with the purpose of releasing the heart of the song in a musical way. And Fab Filter should be very happy he did this series. After watching these videos I want to buy everything they sell...

Very high quality course
I’m really impressed with this mixing course. The instructor clearly knows their subject matter and is clear and concise in explaining their methods. There’s a lot of material covered in the course most of which is applicable to any DAW or set of plugins. I particular enjoyed the focus on front-to-back placement (and the multiple techniques for placing tracks on a soundstage).

I've watched three videos, and it earns 5 stars...
The compression segments changed everything. I am familiar with FF products. I love them. I came here to get more insight on the products, but in the compression videos, I ended up learning a general concept that I can't wait to try out. Larry is always great.

A lot more than just a plug-in review.
I am so pleased with this video. First something is stressed here as to importance that, in my opinion, needs desperately to be more frequently addressed. It is the concept of getting a great front to back dimension in mixing. Too much music sounds flat these days with everything "in your face". Do I agree with each and every choice? Of course not. But the goal is stated at the beginning and is achieved. Well done. In fact if the project were started over by the same person, it might well be that some different choices would be made even to get nearly the same result. FabFilter plug-ins are the most musical on the market today and I learned a bit about a couple of the plug-ins that I don't have. There are some very clever methods of creating space in a three dimensional mix that I will definitely steal. The attention to detail is extremely professional and I would not have any trouble letting this man mix my songs. His thinking is very concise and goal oriented. It is hard to get a better course in mixing that this. Thank you Groove3 and Larry.

Nothing but the best
I cannot get enough of this training. The way of explanation, the workflow and the overall vibe is so good. Most importantly, it is not just hollow tutorial following blind rules. It is practical approach and the result is quite evident in the finished mix. Great job!!
