Outstanding info

I enjoyed the insight provided and the passion exhibited in these videos. I truly felt as though I was being spoken to individually as opposed to a mass marketing promotion. I will take the info provided to heart and make some of the suggestions a mental part of my musical journey.

Gavin Lurrsen
Gavin Lurssen has been a mastering engineer since 1991 and has been in the forefront of and contributor to the many technical developments that have taken place in the industry over the past two decades.
 
Gavin is a ten-time Grammy nominee and has won four Grammys. His Grammys include two for Album Of The Year for  "Raising Sand," performed by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss and produced by T Bone Burnett, and the soundtrack of  "O Brother Where Art Thou?"  He also won in Best Historical category for his work on the box set that accompanied the PBS television series," Martin Scorsese Presents The Blues," and he was awarded a Latin Grammy for his work on Diego Torres' album "Distinto." Raising Sand also won Gavin and Lurssen Mastering two TEC awards for outstanding facility and for mastering.
 
Gavin has mastered albums for artists such as Foo Fighters, Ben Harper, Queens Of The Stone Age, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Eric Clapton, Miranda Lambert, Rickie Lee Jones and Elvis Costello and Ryan Adams - to name just a few. In addition to working with these artists, Gavin also has worked on the soundtracks of the video game, Titanfall, the movies, Cars 1 & 2, Tangled, the Nashville TV series, The Hunger Games, Crazy Heart and Ratatouille, amongst others.
 
Lurssen Mastering has always supported the independent music community - something that Gavin has done since the inception of his career. He feels that technology advancements have a positive effect on the arts in that the more people can express themselves artistically in an affordable manner, the more it leads to a healthy industry.
 
Gavin is a graduate of The Berklee College of Music in Boston and is a recipient of their Distinguished Alumni Award for his achievements in mastering.
 
Gavin regularly leads and takes part in discussion panels throughout the United States and internationally through organizations like SXSW, The Recording Academy and AES, amongst others.  He has served three terms on the LA Chapter of the Board of Governors of The Recording Academy (The Grammys) as the chair of the Education Committee, leading meetings with members of congress to help secure and enhance artists' royalty rights. He also is a regular contributor and author of many articles and interviews in the trade magazines.
 
Eager to advance the music production industry and especially to assist young people choosing a career in the field, Gavin performs volunteer work for several notable organizations. Many students approach him for advice and guidance as they start their careers in the music industry.
 
Reuben Cohen
Reuben Cohen has been with Lurssen Mastering since it opened its doors. He brings a contemporary and innovative approach to the craft of mastering. He has that special talent essential to success in the mastering field - an ability to understand the artist's creative concepts. It is the natural skill of a true musician's engineer. Reuben goes to great lengths to achieve the vision of the artist.
 
Reuben was awarded a Latin Grammy in November 2010 for his work on Diego Torres' album "Distinto," and a 2014 TEC Award for his work on the single, "Happy," by Pharrell Williams. He also worked on the soundtrack of the international movie phenomenon Slumdog Millionaire, which won the Grammy for Best Soundtrack in 2010. The soundtrack also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score and two Academy Awards, one for Best Original Music Score and the other for Best Original Song for "Jai Ho". He also mastered the soundtrack for Pitch Perfect, which won the award for Top Soundtrack at the 2013 American Music Awards.
 
He has mastered albums, singles and/or compilations for artists such as Pharrell Williams, Bruno Mars, Sean Kingston, Far East Movement, Incubus, Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros, Dave Mason, Little Feat, Skylar Grey, Ingrid Michaelson, India.Arie and Boyz II Men.
 
Soundtracks include, Slumdog Millionaire, Pitch Perfect, Pitch Perfect 2, Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2, Minions, Disney's Tangled and Cars 2, Across The Universe, Divergent, Insurgent, and Game Of Thrones.
 
Reuben also has mastered many hit radio singles, including, "Nothin' On You" by B.o.B. featuring Bruno Mars that was nominated for a Grammy in 2011. Other radio singles include "Billionaire" by Travis McCoy featuring Bruno Mars, “Flashlight” by Jessie J, “Parachute” by Ingrid Michaelson; "Girls On The Dance Floor" and "G6" by Far East Movement.
