Very Useful!

The demonstration is a good teaching itself to inform you of the capacity of Groove Agent 4. However, it's still a detailed tour guide. To go deeper, you need to read the manual. By the way, I really like the author's voice, which never fails to create a soothing atmosphere for me.

A difficult product explained well.

This is a hard one, and I blame that on the product rather than the reviewer. There is a very reasonable logic to how Groove Agent 4 works, but until you understand it, you will likely be lost. I tried to experiment my way through, but on my own I could not even load up sounds. Can't Groove Agent load a default kit on startup so you perceive that it works at all when you first dive in? That should be a default feature that you can turn off once you find your way around. The videos are very clear and concise. I normally expect to watch a 2-hour series in about 3 actual hours, but I found it took a good number of sessions so I could absorb everything and make it my own. I just bought Groove Agent 4 and want to know it inside and out so I was constantly pausing and going back and rewatching short segments until I knew what was being shown. That's on me, not the reviewer, so far as taking a long time going through all this. The bottom line is I now feel capable of using Groove Agent 4 and I was completely lost going in. I even like it! The fact that you can bring in samples from outside is a huge plus. This series is must watch for prospective Groove Agent 4 users.

I'm very sleepy!

Although the content of this tutorial is helpful, I'm afraid the narration of the videos is absolutely robotic. I can understand a need for a script, however, rather than the narrator using the script as a cue, it is read word for word, with wording accents needlessly included! If you want to learn the ins and outs of Groove Agent, then this is really the only option. You will however, find yourself rifling through the medicine cabinet for anti-depressants!

1. When did you start dabbling in music?

Having a father with a recording studio and having played guitar since being a 14 year old kid, I quickly got into recording. But, the purchase of a Tascam 244 Portastudio was a breakthrough in realizing what I wanted to do.

2. What training have you had?

I taught myself to play guitar and keyboards and found it a remarkably calming and mathematical experience learning the rules of intervals within a scale and how they can take you to any chord.

3. When did you get into recording?

The purchase of the cassette based Tascam 244 lasted a fair few years until I moved up to a Roland VS880 which then linked in to building a purpose built commercial multimedia studio around 15 years ago mainly running Steinberg and Adobe software.

4. People you have worked with/for?

Thankfully, nobody famous enough to have an ego. Instead 100's of happy Joe Public clients.

5. Why are you so good at training people?

My degree is in English and Teaching and I was a grammar school teacher for over 10 years before changing direction and working solely from my studio. recording music and filming for clients.
