Product Overview

The heart of Focurite's line of audio interfaces is the MixControl software, and studio guru Todd Tatnall hits the bullseye with an in-depth 11 tutorial series that teaches you everything you need to know to get up and running and recording like a pro!

Beginning with an Introduction and Installation instructions, Todd gets you oriented to the MixControl Sections in general, and then gets specific. Todd starts with the Device Status Section, and then spends the next 3 videos discussing the Mixer Section, its Input and Output channels, and How to Set Up Multiple Mixes.

Next, Todd explores the Routing Section, and How it Interacts with the Mixer. From there, you'll learn how to use the Monitor Section to control Monitoring Levels and Monitor Mixes. Todd now shows you How to Set Up MixControl with various DAWs and Recording Applications, and finally, explains How to Save and Load Settings.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by from Great! (but...) Great tutorial, everything explained in a good way, not so fast. But I'd like to see more real examples for setting different mixes for example to different headphones. This was like overall series, but would be nice to have even one video with everything shown in a real life situation, for example if he'd have a 5 people band, and how to make for example separate mix for vocalist, and separate mix for engineer. But still very nice course!

Rated 5.0 out of 5 by from Thank you for a much needed tutorial on MixControl I own a Scarlett 18i20 and use Reaper as DAW and all hardware synth set-up, so the provided instructions for a bewildering user-interface by Focusrite were in dire need of this great tutorial unlocking the vast versatility of MixControl, setting-up for standalone use, and various headphone/mix routings, made me VERY happy synth nerd to find this and bought it early this a.m. before sufficient coffee even. Thanks so much.

Rated 5.0 out of 5 by from Perfect Intro to MixControl I just rented a Scarlett 18i20 to extend the ins on my RME Babyface for a live show. The set is a bit complex as I'm using Maschine as my main DAW, Babyface as my main usb sound card, but will be recording the musicians and myself live into Ableton Live and using the Scarlett 18i20 connected via ADAT lightpipe/toslink. RME's TotalMix is already not very intuitive, so having two software mixers seemed a bit intimidating at first, especially one I'm not familiar with at all, with a show coming up this weekend. But the presenter's style was crystal clear and highly organized. I'm confident that I can now send out separate mixes to my musicians and at the very least get my mix out to the monitors and Front of House speakers. I could still record in the box to Ableton, but feel it might help me to focus (and make life easier on my computer's CPU) if I send it to another computer or just a recorder like a zoom handy. Perfect timing; this tutorial saved the day for me.
