Studio wizard Paul Ortiz delivers in-depth video tutorials showing what you need to know to create your first song with the Native Instruments MASCHINE MK3. Go from nothing to something in about an hour, and get that first beat out!

Designed for the newcomer to MASCHINE MK3, Paul begins by welcoming you and goes over what the series will do. He then gets right to it and covers loading a kit and creating patterns, browsing and loading groups, setting recording preferences, and how to create patterns and record your first loop with both live input and step sequencing.

Next, you'll see how to add Drum Modules and use Note Repeat for even more creative options. Then watch and learn how to add in chord stabs using MASCHINE's keyboard and chord modes, as well as how to use the note editor to alter note lengths and automate effects using the step sequencer.

Paul then shows you how to configure a master controller keyboard and add in a bass line, how to add in an ethereal / ambient melodic layer, and use the compressor module to apply sidechaining for that modern sound. Working with patterns, scenes and arpeggios are next, as well as how to use the arranger and scene views to chain song sections together and more.

You'll also learn how to use third party VST effects, utilize the new audio functionality to import a white noise sweep and sync it to the tempo of the project, as then add filter automation to create an exciting build to your song.

Wrapping it all up, Paul reveals how to import and manually slice a vocal sample, and then prepare and export your files so they can be used for collaboration or mixing in another DAW.

See the individual tutorial descriptions for more detailed info. If you're new to the Native Instruments MASCHINE MK3 and want to get a head start on making your first beat, this is definitely the series to watch. Save countless hours of frustration, watch "First Song with MASCHINE MK3" today!

This was a great and easy to follow tutorial. I did not get bored since he focused on the interesting stuff and probably saved me an hour or two of screen time learning the same thing from a different tutorial.

Outstanding Tutorial

This is one of the most concise tutorials that I've watched. Informative, well-paced, logically structured and very focused. Thanks.

1. When did you start dabbling in music?

I've been working with computers and music from probably around five or six, when my parents first got an Atari with Cubase 2.0! Been hooked ever since.

2. What training have you had?

Mostly it comes from my parents. They're both songwriters and producers, so I grew up watching them and learning in their studio. More recently, just self-taught really.

3. When did you get into recording?

I guess I first started taking it seriously when I was around 15 or 16, which is when it became a bit more feasible to actually record at home and go beyond GM. That's when I started picking up other instruments aside from keyboard, guitar, bass, drums.

4. People you have worked with/for?

I've just started working with the guys over at Red Bull Media House and am on my second album with them now! Some of my sound design work has found its way to the studios over at the likes of Blizzard, and I've done a great deal of custom composition and production music for library music companies both here in the UK and in the Unites States.

5. Why are you so good at training people?

I just love helping people out I guess! Through my personal music projects I've connected with thousands of fans from across the world, and most of them are aspiring producers and musicians themselves. So it's nice to be part of a wider community of creative people and help them along the way, as others helped me.
