Product Overview

Pro DJ / EDM Producer Chris Herrera breaks his silence and bestows his EDM secrets in this in-depth video tutorial series. Shot in Logic Pro X, these topics apply to any DAW and are crucial to getting your EDM tracks to sound and feel just like the major releases.

Chris begins with the all-important but sometimes overlooked art of setting levels and pre fader metering, followed by setting up autoloads for fast and efficient session starts, using randomizing features for uniqueness, depth and texture, and how to use busses for colorization and summing.

You'll then explore the function of the final mix bus, building customized templates, master channel automation for creative effect, and the "absolute must" practice of setting up and applying Parallel Compression for authentic sounding EDM grooves.

See the individual tutorial descriptions below for detailed info. If you're ready to peek behind the EDM production curtain and make more authentic EDM, check out Chris Herrera’s "EDM Insider Secrets" now.

question about autoloading "SC"——

In video #2... there is a click being used as a side chain for KICK, CLAP and 1&3 notes/hits. These measures are looped at 130bpm... HOWEVER... what happens when you auto load these "SC"s and your bpm is slower or faster? The loops at 120bmmp don't line up. Would appreciate a reply. Cheers for a great series!

I am a: Professional, Musician, Producer, Audio Engineer, Sound Designer, Logic Pro, Pro Tools

Response from :

Hey there! It's quite simple - after first making your SC ghost triggers, simply hit "F" for Flex then Flex them using "Slicing". That way you can autoload them from any given session and they will automatically import at the desired tempo. This is also helpful if you want to re-quantize them with say, swing. This is covered in great detail in videos 10-14 of my Groove3 series, Produce Signature EDM. Hope that helps!! - Chris Herrera

Excellent!

Just finished watching this series. Christopher is a great instructor who explains things clearly. His topics are always intriguing and he presents unconventional but interesting ways of doing things in Logic. I especially liked when he talked about pitching the vocals up by a few cents and how he got that from his guitar playing background. Keep them coming Chris!
