Creating Realistic MIDI Strings is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 36 .
Rated 3.0 out of 5 by from Concepts Very Helpful I liked all of the concepts that were shared. I had thought from the introduction that he would be showing how these could be done on a variety of string programs including budget friendly sets. Unfortunately, he continued to call attention to features of mostly the one NI set. It would have been helpful if he had shown how these same things could be accomplished in ways that did not include the specific features of the plugin. Otherwise, as mentioned, the concepts were helpful.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by from Midi Realistic Strings It's always a sign of a good video when you can follow along without trying to figure out what the instructor is talking about.

Rated 3.0 out of 5 by from Just OK There were several little tips here but it was still very basic. I felt like he was reading an instruction manual. He needs to be organic.

Rated 2.0 out of 5 by from A few helpful tips. A few tips in there that can be used in future compositions, but this felt more like a product demo for NI's Symphony Series. "Creating Realistic MIDI Strings" Step 1 : fork out £400+ for this library, and use all the simple features it offers. I wanted to know how to do these features without the "win" button!

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by from Great for beginner or intermediate Excellent overview of creating string parts. It moves at a good speed so it's not too drawn out but does not skip over anything. It is not specific to plugin, but the only drawback is if you use a different plugin you have to search (if the feature exists in your plugin).

Rated 5.0 out of 5 by from I've just watched the first 2 classes on articulation. This is exactly what I wanted to be learning....I'm hoping that the class gets a lot deeper. Judging from the other Groove3 classes I've been working on i suspect that it will!

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by from It's all in the details I've been using a virtual orchestra since the early days of DAW's. With the birth of my latest project, Seventh Legend, I wanted to learn how to make the orchestra sound more genuine. Within the first pass through of these videos I have learned a tremendous amount of editing strings to get more of a lifelike/human feel and sound. I'm looking forward to learning even more from the rest of the orchestral lessons!

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by from great course as i have many string libraries ,this course has given me more insight in haw to stack and program string samples

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by from Helpful, especially if using Kontact String Ensemble. I benefitted from the guidance to resist playing string ensemble patches, but rather to record separate instruments to separate tracks, even using additional tracks for different articulations. The Expressions part was particularly helpful. Also, the introduction to "Native Instruments' Action Strings." Wow. Explanations of Divisi and why to use 3rd party reverb (vs. built-in) were good. Many particular features related directly to specific software he was using (especially the remarkable "String Ensemble" by NI for Kontact). However, other string libraries don't necessarily have those features. (It doubled as a good ad for this and other software products).

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by from Concise Basic Techniques Overview Informative tutorial, especially for beginning to intermediate level musicians. The instructor speaks a little rushed and the arrangements were not engaging or interesting enough to clearly demonstrate the techniques.

Rated 3.0 out of 5 by from Basic Info on String Writing Basic info on the different articulations and how to use them in a simple arrangement. I was hoping for more advanced info on writing midi parts to more closely simulate orchestral sounds.

Rated 3.0 out of 5 by from Realistic Midi strings This video series gives interesting info on string parts via Midi libraries. However the audio levels need to be remixed with the subtleties of the string parts themselves mixed louder over non-string parts. The tutor appears to be a string player himself or a long seasoned string arranger and the info he imparts comes from someone who knows the idiom well.

Rated 3.0 out of 5 by from Good tips and tricks This is a good tips and tricks video rather than a basic or fundamental overview of MIDi strings. Strange choice of Syudio One DAW but it wasn't as off putting as I expected. Worth a watch.

Rated 5.0 out of 5 by from Great overall Excellent instructor with well detailed lessons. Very practical information that you can apply immediately. Looking forward to more from this instructor.

Rated 1.0 out of 5 by from Not good Hard to hear the strings when they are drowned out by piano in almost every video. Also I thought this would be an advanced lesson on how to do midi mock up with strings library, tricks and tips. Nothing in here that I could not easily find for free on you tube after doing 2 sec search.

Rated 5.0 out of 5 by from Crammed with great tips I've watched loads of video tutorials and this is the best one I've seen. It's crammed with great tips and it's not too long. This guy is a great teacher and I'm going to check out his Rapture Pro tutorial next. I hope they get him to do more. You can learn a great deal about how to make good arrangements in an hour. Really accessible to anyone. Great musical examples.
