Product Overview
In this Hal Leonard Music Pro Guide video course, Josh Bess explains how to create realistic-sounding drum grooves using Ableton Live and the included Ableton Live Drum Racks specifically created for this video course by Josh.
With this video series you’ll learn not only how to write drum grooves, but also how to develop your own creative and musical grooves, with the mindset and understanding of a drummer.
This tutorial series is much more than mapping out beats and grooves, as the ideas behind MIDI note placement, velocity changes, groove pool, natural feel, and more are all discussed—demonstrating concepts that become stepping-stones to a new way of thinking and creating, while introducing you to diverse groove styles such as Rock, Dance, Funk, Jazz, R&B, World, and more.
The ideas and discussions in this video course are based on Josh’s book Ableton Grooves: Programming Basic & Advanced Grooves with Ableton Live, released by Hal Leonard Books as part of their Quick Pro Guide series.

Better than expected!
First of all, I am very happy with the exercise files. These provide ableton drum kits and other resources that I was happy to have. The tutorial itself is also very good, but you might also want to pick the course "Creating Realistic MIDI Drums" which covers a few details and tricks not covered here about velocity. My only complain would be that I wished there was some information and tips on how to create an entire drum track and not only just 1-2 bars of drums.

Not bad, can be useful
Not bad, can be useful and inspiring to get some nice groove out of Ableton and learning how to program them. Unfortunately to get all the Drum Kits working and use well the downloadable material you need to have Sampler Instrument from Ableton which is quite expensive. Otherwise you get only a couple of kits working, like me.
