very good explanation of all the different types of compressors and what they are used for. I will be revisiting this over and over

The videos cover all of the classic compressors, some of which I wasn't familiar with. They gave me a good overview of several brands of compressor plugins before I decide whether to purchase them. I would have liked if bypass were used more to hear the overall effect of the compressor on the tracks. I often couldn't hear the difference between the settings (threshold, attack, ratio, etc.)

I've been waiting for one like this.
I'm not the most brilliant person when it comes to compression. My favorite part is comparing the software compressors when I you have most of them. I have a subscription but this was on I had to buy as a download as well.

Another Kenny Superb Class
Kenny is one of my favorite instructors at Groove3. From his four part series of Pro Tools Tips and Tricks to many other tutorials this one too follows a common theme: Passionate teaching with many real life examples that I copy and implement in my mixes. This one about compressors is most important and came out just when I was interested to learn more about different compressors.

A Good Intro to Classic Compressors
I love the sound of old records, but the gear used to make those is cost prohibitive and, frankly, not available to indie artists in China. This video series covers a bunch of famous compressors and guides you through some of the plugin emulations out there. I wish I had access to this useful material while producing the debut EP by my Beijing-based band, ??? The Paper Tigers. But I'm looking forward to applying what I learned to my next recording project!
