Awesome Course

I have addictive drums 1 and 2 and I never knew of the possibilities that this powerful software provided. I have only been using it to quickly grab beats and drag into my projects. Thanks for the great explanation video I cant wait to get under the hood of this program.

Nicely Detailed Course

The Author covers as much as he kno', some important things he left out e.g. Sync to Play/Stop, is a great feature that allows AD users to sync the beats page to their DAW in use allowing quick preview and selection. Outside of bits like this, the course was well informative and now i finally kno'how to route AD2 to individual tracks properly and do a bounce to track in simple format. Thank you !

Very Informitive

Todd teaches us the ins and outs of Addictive Drums 2, a tool I'm growing to love more and more, now that I know how to use it! Watching him go through each piece of the plugin and tweaking each knob to taste was helpful (technically, as well as musically). Will view again for sure.

1. When did you start dabbling in music?

When I was really young, maybe 3 or 4 years old. That's when I got my first (toy) drum set and played it all the time. I was studying viola at 7, piano at 8, and drums at 10.

2. What training have you had?

In college, I received a Bachelor of Music in theory/composition from SIUE, and a Bachelor of Science in recording production and technology from MTSU. Working in big studios in Chicago after college, I learned as much if not more working as an assistant/2nd engineer, often repairing/troubleshooting problems on the fly. It better equipped me to work independently AND with others.

3. When did you get into recording?

In high school. My punk band saved all our pennies to record at an 8-track studio for $10 per hour. I was fascinated by the power of multitracking, overdubbing, mixing, etc.

4. People you have worked with/for?

I've worked with commercial music producers and talent for TV and radio commercials, many of which were national/international brands. I also worked with bands and artists in the studio, including the Frogs, Kelley Deal, James Iha, Sebastian Bach, any many others. As a tech support engineer, I've helped thousands of customers. I worked directly with several high profile customers, including John Fogerty, Bruce Swedien, Oscar Petersen, John Tesh, Andy Sturmer (Jellyfish), Greg Lisher (Camper Van Beethoven), Chris Vrenna, and engineers for Paul Simon, Wilco, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and ICP to name a few.

Why are you so good at training people?

When I was providing technical support, my approach was not only to solve the problem, but to also listen carefully to the end-user's needs AND explain what the cause and solution of any problem was. Putting technical jargon into more relate-able terms helps. I'm also an adjunct professor at a local university, and apply the same ideology when teaching. Whether you're working with a customer or student, you have to put yourself in their shoes.
