In a world filled with reproductions and ever increasing complexity, Applied Acoustics Systems Ultra Analog VA-2 imposes itself as a unique and powerful synth that is fast, easy, and remarkably versatile. Synth guru Scottie Dugan takes you on a tour of this awesome virtual synth, showing you all that it can do, as well as sound design examples that will kick start your programming frenzy.
Scottie begins with an intro showing you the synth and how to install, register and get it up and running. Next, you'll learn how to save, load, import and restore Programs, followed by a look at the Play View where you can control basic performance parameters as well as the powerful Arp arpeggiator module. The Oscillators are then examined in-detail and you'll see how this is where it all starts when making juicy, fat analog tones. The Filters and LFO sections are then revealed, and you'll learn how to make even more complex tones.
Scottie now goes into deeper territory with videos on Envelope Generators and Advanced Modulation techniques. You'll also see how to assign MIDI values to control Ultra Analog VA-2's knobs, so you can use a control surface or MIDI keyboard instead of your mouse. This synth has some great effects built-in, (EQ, Compression, Reverb, Delay, Distortion, Phaser, Chorus, Flanger, Wah and Notch) and Scottie shows you them all and how to use them to give depth and character to your sounds.
Wrapping up the series, Scottie shows you how to do Sound Design and make Bass, Pad, Lead and Kick sounds with this powerful beast. If you use AAS Ultra Analog VA-2 in your tracks and productions, see what it can really do. You'll work faster and more creatively, producing thick, fat analog tones and effects... Ultra Analog VA-2 Review
Ultra Analog VA-2 is a great synth. It's basic but that's the beauty. However, it is very possible to design amazing complex, rich, and lush layered sounds with it. It's only weakness is the FX section. Although flexible with what it can do and what it has to offer it does leave one wanting more. The tutorial videos for this synth are excellent. I've learned how to program every single parameter about this synth because of these videos. Kudos Scottie Dugan and Groove3.
