Rx It, offers you the most comprehensive video tutorial series available, covering both RX 5 and RX 5 Advanced with a fine toothed comb filter, leaving no aspect of the software unexplored.

Mike begins the series with an overview of what RX 5 has to offer, and general operation tips. After that, the fun begins! The next four videos cover denoising, using the various denoiser modules in RX 5. Mike follows that with a pair of videos on treating distortion, a pair of videos on treating hum and buzz, a pair of videos on using the Spectral Repair module, and a pair of videos on how to restore vinyl and tape material.

Mike then spends seven videos covering specific modules in RX 5: Deverb, Deplosive, Instant Process, Leveler, Loudness, EQ Match, Ambient Match, and Module Chain. Mike then switches gears to demonstrate how you can use RX Connect to transfer clips between Pro Tools and RX 5.

He also goes over the 4 audio repair plug-ins included with the RX Plug-in pack.

Mike finishes the series with 11 more videos on the individual modules in RX 5 and RX 5 Advanced including Deconstruct, Gain, EQ, Channel Operations, Spectrum Analyzer, Plug-in Hosting module, Resample, Dither, and Signal Generator.

Whether youre new to RX 5 or a longtime user looking for a deeper understanding of what it can do, dont miss RX 5 Explained!

A very worthy investment in understanding RX5

This course is excellent and I thoroughly recommend it - very clear, well thought out and Mike is a class presenter. I've had RX5 for a while and have been accessing the odd forum or video to try to get the most out of it. In hindsight, that was a time consuming and frustrating approach which has not achieved what I'd been aiming for. Now, working my way through this course I can see how its logical, structured approach and clear presentation by an obvious master will ultimately give me the best chance to truly understand this complex tool. Finally I think I'm getting a solid level of proficiency.

Excellent Tutorials on Very Powerful Software

I bought these tutorials a few weeks ago, and although I haven't finished watching all of them, they are excellent. Even for someone like myself who is not only NOT a professional sound engineer, but one who has never even messed with this sort of thing. I want to clean up some recordings our band made back in the late '60's. I figured iZotope was the way to go, and I liked what I read about RX5. The tutorials have sold me. This is the product I want. This package of tutorials however, is a complete necessity, as I have no idea how to use this software. So even as an inexperienced individual, I feel confident enough now to buy RX5 Advanced and start experimenting and learning. If you have any idea at all about buying iZotope RX 5 products, get these tutorials if you do not know your way around audio repair software. You will not be sorry. They are geared a bit more for those who have used this sort of product, but they are still easily understood by the uninitiated.

Changed My Workflow Completely

Ever since I bought this, I have found numerous ways for RX 5 Advanced to help in many stages of my workflow. It can seemingly do everything from editing out pops and clicks in dialog, removing hums background noise, isolating background noise and bringing it back in as a layer in a final mix (thanks a million for Ambience Match), to exporting an Excel-style document to give with deliverables to a post-production team. Absolutely incredible. This product makes it possible to put off buying Pro Tools for a few years. I tell every Audiobook narrator I know: this is built for you.

Worth it!

I bought the Groove3 training video for RX 5 as an impulse purchase while going through the ordering steps for the RX 5 application. And am I glad I did. I am new to the RX 5 world and had never heard of Groove3 before, so I was unsure about the quality of what I would get. Apprehension is over. I appreciate that the lessons are focused and relatively short, so I could pick and choose what I was interested in. In short order I was functional on RX 5 for my immediate need and revisited a few lessons to become much better at removing noise from my audio - my primary goal. Nice job Groove3.

Tripped up from the start.

I just started my first video. At 1:04 in the User Interface tutorial, the instructor demonstrates making a selection; in the process his pointer turns into a cross and allows him to rubber band an area. There's no indication of HOW the instructor changed the pointer to a cross...I assume he did it by key command. I've clicked every button on the user interface, searched every menu, and searched in help; I still don't know how to create the point cross that allows selection of an area. It's simple but critical steps like this, when left out, that leave gaping holes in understanding how to use the software. I have a lot more studying to do before further comment can be made on how well and how fast this software allows me to learn.

Useful resource, but too many follow up emails

Being a hermit I prefer not to get multiple emails every week about random stuff from Groove3... gonna have to unsubscribe as they send more than any person who values an inbox free from too many emails can handle. That being said their tutorials are some of my favorites.

I am a: Mastering Facility, Producer, Audio Engineer

Response from Customer Service:

Hello and thank you for the review! We're glad that you like the RX5 training. We do send out newsletters announcing our new releases and we consistently add new content every week so feel free to unsubscribe by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the newsletter. Then no more announcements will show up in your inbox. I hope you enjoy all of our other training too and thanks for your support!

1. When did you start dabbling in music?

I started working with sound doing the theatre productions at school when I was around 14, putting together sound effects tapes for plays and also doing the lighting, completely self taught.

2. What training have you had?

I served an apprenticeship at Marconi's in Essex, England, home of the inventor of radio. I have an ONC & HNC in Electronics and then became their audio test and development engineer.

3. When did you get into recording?

When I was at school but I got a lot more serious when I was in Essex becoming chief Engineer of Hospital Radio Chelmsford, as well as providing sound services for the 'Am Dram' scene in Chelmsford.

4. People you have worked with/for?

Acoustic tracks for The Alarm, albums for Fairground Attraction, whilst I was at Piccadilly Radio in Manchester. Since then I have made so much programming for BBC Radio as well as OBs for ITV in the UK. I was the first person to do a live Dolby Surround transmission in the UK.

5. Why are you so good at training people?

I have been training folk on Pro Tools since it was v2.5. 4 tracks on a good day with a following wind. People say I am patient and can explain techy stuff simply. I am also a media apprenticeship mentor and assessor for a variety of schemes here in Manchester, England where I am based.

Rated 5.0 out of 5 by from Super features! For some reason my Sony AX33 audio ended up with high beep sounds every three seconds for over 45 minutes into a wedding I shot for my niece and her new husband. However, RX5 Advanced was able to remove one at a time over 120 of these high pitched beep sounds using Instant Process, and the replace tool. It required simple eye hand coordination, removing them one at a time, but the results were magical! Then there were De-Noise, De-Click, etc....Perfect!

The overall delivery of the tutorials is provided in a slow and methodical manner, making them very easy to follow for novice sound editors (such as myself). I use FCPX and run this software to improve the audio of my videos. The software itself is also very easy to use and offers valuable features which can solve problems in literally a couple of clicks. Very impressed with the whole course and, having paid for other online tutorials for different software in the past, this is amazing value. Highly recommended!
