Rated 5.0 out of 5 by from This will be a hit. I'm a concert pianist having spent all my life at it, and due to the Chinese virus, I've have had to turn my hand to composition. I therefore came to this as a "MIDI" drummer having never touched a pair of drum sticks. In order to write drum music, I felt I had to watch and listen to a master. Mr McLean showed his chops at the Sweetwater Youtube demo (where he was promoting this book methinks) and if you're lucky enough to come across this tutorial, you'd be foolish to miss out. Mr McLean demonstrates not only a professionalism but a humility and a sincerity which is the essence of the best performers and composers. It's a lot for a non drummer to learn but I feel I made the right decision to learn from one of the best. (If you want to see him in action, watch him accompany "face like thunder" song from The Japanese House band on YouTube). This guy is pure and raw talent and if I were a budding drummer, this is where I would start. I taught music discipline all my life. If this guy were a pianist, he'd be Glen Gould.
