Serum 2: DnB Sound Design

Calling all fans of DnB! In this Serum 2 video course, electronic music wiz Larry Holcombe will show you how to design your own sounds for a DnB track using only Serum 2. Kicks, snares, basses ... it's all here, and you'll learn plenty of great sound design techniques in the process that can be applied to other genres and instruments as well. When you're done with this Serum 2 course, you'll be ready to start designing your own sounds from scratch on your very next production. • Drum Breaks (16:30) - In this first video, we sculpt and mangle a Drum and Bass break utilizing Serum 2's extensive sound design capabilities to create various interesting sonic possibilities.

• Synthesizing a DnB Kick Using Serum 2 (14:20) - Next, we discuss creating a kick drum using a combination of Wavetable mode and the Sampler. This allows us to have a tuned kick body alongside a suitable punchy attack.

• Synthesizing a DnB Snare Using Serum 2 (15:08) - We apply the same process to a heavy DnB snare, again using synthesis in conjunction with the sampler to add in different layers.

• DnB Bass Stab (15:02) - Finally, we add a dirty bass squelch utilizing the new routing capabilities within Serum 2.
