DECODA Explained

Join veteran Groove3 instructor Larry Holcombe for an informative video series on DECODA, the new plug-in from zplane that makes learning songs easier and quicker than you thought possible. From playback controls like looping and speed to input FX (amp simulation, etc.), tempo beat grids, MIDI editing, and more, it's all covered here! By the time you're done with the series, you'll be ready to start using DECODA right away to learn that huge pile of songs for your next gig! These DECODA videos are designed for new DECODA users.

Videos
Introduction & Interface (05:07) - This video introduces the series and outlines the different areas of the DECODA interface.
Navigation Controls (06:00) - We discuss project navigation next, including the project overview section and step size. This allows us to easily loop different areas of the reference track.
Playback Controls (04:09) - Next up, we cover playing the track and also changing the speed to enable you to practice slowly. We also cover temporarily looping track sections.
Metronome (02:59) - This video is concerned with the metronome and metronome settings.
Mixer (02:17) - Learn all about the mixer in this video, with which we can get the exact mix of sounds we'd like when playing along.
Input FX (01:56) - This video covers how to add input effects (such as an amp sim plug-in) to a guitar or bass. We also demonstrate creating presets.
Project Sidebar & Editing (07:44) - We cover editing sections and creating bookmarks within the project sidebar next. We also discuss editing the tempo and beat grid.
Waveform & Piano Roll (05:21) - In this video, we demonstrate the two primary views: waveform and piano roll. We continue to explore using the note edit option to draw in MIDI notes for deciphering melody and harmony as well.
Focus (05:30) - Next up, we examine the focus option, which allows us to narrow down areas of the frequency spectrum in order to be able to transcribe and draw in MIDI notes.
Export Options (01:58) - Finally, we look at the export options available for exporting chords as MIDI and text.
