Wavelab 12 Update Explained

Wavelab users rejoice! In this Wavelab video course, Groove3 veteran instructor Gary Hiebner will walk you through the incredible updates and new features found in Wavelab 12, all of which can help improve the quality of your mixes and/or speed up your workflow in numerous ways. By the end of this Wavelab course, you'll be fully up to speed and ready to start implementing these new tools right away. These Wavelab videos are designed for new users of Wavelab version 12.

New Start Up Assistant (05:37) - Starting off, you will see the New Start U Assistant that comes up when you launch Wavelab. In this video, Gary takes you through what has been updated and added to the new Start Up Assistant and where to find your templates and recent items for the different file types. Plus, you can even now edit your audio device settings right from the Start Up Assistant.
Navigating the User Interface (04:02) - This video is a quick refresher on the user interface. Gary navigates you through the different areas on the UI, so you know where everything is.
ARA Use (03:57) - Wavelab can now run as an ARA plug-in within other DAWs that support the ARAR technology. In this video, you see how to load up Wavelab from within Cubase and take advantage of its tools and function from within Cubase.
Drag & Drop Audio Exchange with Other Applications (03:55) - You can now easily move audio between other applications easily. For example, you can copy audio to your clipboard and paste it somewhere else on your system (even into other audio applications). In this video, you see how this audio cross-integration works.
Using the Rainbow Waveform View (06:32) - Learn how to view and use the Rainbow Waveform view. You can customize the colors shown to view different dominant frequency areas and save customized views.
Bulk Audio File Replacement (04:57) - This video shows you how to use the Build Audio File Replacement Tool to quickly and easily replace multiple audio clips in an Audio Montage. This function will detect new audio files in the audio folder that it can replace with. Or you can choose other locations for the files you want to bulk replace in the project.
Transient & Release Magnet Markers (02:39) - There are extra options to the Magnets Markers where you can now use magnets to detect the transients and releases in an audio file. Plus, there is also a Tab to Transient feature that can help you speed up your editing.
Zoom to Peak Feature (03:37) - This new feature helps you automatically zoom to the peak of the audio - much easier than trying the other zoom methods.
RMS Waveform View (02:05) - You now have a RMS waveform view in addition to the standard view on your audio files. This is very handy for viewing peaks in the audio.
Synchronized Audio File & Montage Navigation (03:07) - The Audio Synchronization feature links your navigation and editing through other audio files and audio montages. This is super helpful if you are editing numerous audio files at the same point.
Loudness Analysis & Reporting Feature (05:34) - There are extra Loudness Analysis tools available in version 12, including switching between different standard and platforms like loudness levels for Spotify and Netflix. Also check out the new visual analyzer tool.
Improved Crossfades (02:37) - In the audio editor, you can now enable automatic crossfading when editing your audio files. Learn how to enable this feature and adjust the settings for the length of the crossfade.
Loudness Matching (04:09) - With this function, you can use a reference track as a target and then match its loudness.
New Loudness Meta Nomalizer Functions (06:45) - New functions have been added to the Loudness Meta Normalizer application so that the other clips shift accordingly. It's a nice way for normalizing to be applied equally through your clips.
Null Test Track (03:58) - The Null Test Track allows you to test if a track is a complete copy of another. It's an easy way to tell if two clips are exactly the same.
Replicate Settings for Plug-Ins (02:28) - You can now replicate the settings of one plug-in on other plug-ins in other tracks. This is a huge time saver, especially if you want to move settings across to many other tracks.
Improvement with Archiving & Consolidating Projects (06:56) - Discover the improvements to the file storage and archiving procedures in Wavelab 12.
Sidelining Tracks (03:09) - This function allows you to hide and deactivate tracks to save on CPU and resources.
New Naming Scheme Filter (05:02) - With this feature, you can add attributes to to your files so that when you render out your audio, it renames the files with the attributes you added. Learn which attributes you can add and how you can build up your own file-naming scheme for your renders.
Speaker Configurations & Playback Plug-Ins (04:35) - See how you can now bind plugin playback effects to each speaker configuration.
Black Valve Compressor (08:41) - This is a new analog emulating compression unit. You can use this to not only to compress your audio, but also to color your audio as it passes through the emulated analog unit. See and hear it in action.
VoxComp (03:18) - Cubase 13 has some new dedicated vocal effects, the first being VoxComp, which is a very simple one-knob effect that allows you to quickly and easily compress your vocals. Gary demonstrates how to use this on some vocals in a production.
Raiser (06:28) - This is a new brickwall limiter included in Wavelab with multiple release options that can really shape and color the sound. In this video, we take a walk through the interface and see how to use this limiter in your audio editor and audio montage.
New EQ-P1A & EQ-M5 (08:32) - Two new analog-style EQs have been added: a Pulteq-style EQ and a midrange-boost EQ. In this video, you see how to use these types of EQs to color different areas of the frequency spectrum in your audio tracks.
Content Creation Features (04:24) - To finish up the video series, let's look at some of the content creation features. First, you can select to create chapters for your audio. These time-stamped markers can be added to your YouTube videos or Spotify songs. You can also visualize your mouse keys and modifiers which is really helpful if you do presentations or tutorials and you want the viewers to see the shortcuts you use.
