Softube Model 80 Explained

Join synth guru Thomas Cochran for a full-scale exploration of Softube's Model 80 synthesizer, an amazingly accurate virtual recreation of the celebrated Prophet 5 polyphonic synth. In this Softube Model 80 video tutorial course, you'll learn about all of this instrument's amazing features, how to adjust the parameters to get the tones you want, and even how to create patches from scratch, along with gaining a fundamental working knowledge of synthesis in general. If 80s polysynths are your thing, you're in the right place! These Model 80 videos are designed for new Model 80 users.

Getting Started
Presets & Global Controls (12:10) - Thomas welcomes you and gives a brief overview of the global control on the synth. He also covers the presets menu and shows how this can be used to organize and select presets.
OSC & Mixer (12:11) - Learn how the oscillators on the synth are used to generate and layer sounds together. This video also shows how the Mixer section can be used to blend sounds together.
Filters & Envelopes (11:47) - Next, we look at the Filter section and discuss how it's used to modify your oscillator's signal. The envelopes are also covered, which allow for adjusting how your patches evolve over time.
Voice & Global Modulation (11:32) - Dive into the Global Modulation controls and see how to set up the LFO on the synth. You'll also examine the Voice Mod section, with which you can apply modulation on an individual voice level.
Advanced Controls (06:53) - Thomas then shows off the advanced controls on the synth like the Programmer section, Pitch, and Unison controls. They're also useful for quick preset management and editing the more advanced features of the synth.
Expanded View (06:53) - To wrap up the discussion on the individual parts of the synth, we look at the expanded view of the synth and see how it can be used to add interesting stereo width and expression to patches.
Patches
Pad (10:06) - See how to create a full-sounding, modulated pad from scratch using the synthesizer.
Bass (10:09) - To wrap up the course, you'll learn how to make a thick bass patch from scratch with the Model 80.
