Logic Pro: Flipping a Sample Explained

Think you need a fancy sampling program to flip your samples? Think again! In this Logic Pro video course, production wiz Larry Holcombe shows you how to do it using nothing but Logic Pro's Quick Sampler and Sampler. You'll learn how to pitch, chop, edit, and more in this Logic Pro course, which takes you through the whole process of making a beat in Logic Pro. By the end of the course, you'll be ready to employ these techniques on your very next track. These videos are designed for intermediate Logic Pro users.

Videos
Preparing the Sample (03:43) - In this video, we introduce the series and also prep the sample, pitching and speeding it up so it's ready for sending to Quick Sampler.
Sample Chop Technique 1 (15:24) - We discuss using Logic?s Quick Sampler next to chop up the sample using beat divisions. We also make the patch monophonic, remove velocity sensitivity, and employ the gate mode so we can control the length of each slide.
Sample Chop Technique 2 (08:47) - Next up, we manually chop the sample and create a Sampler patch using these chops. We also layer in the original bass MIDI playing a Logic 808 preset to add some low-end energy and power.
Beats Pt. 1 (16:04) - We set about making a beat next using firstly a Logic preset called Crate Digger. We also layer in a Drummer track playing a 16th-note hi-hat pattern and experiment with knocking the drums off the grid to create a nice groove.
Beats Pt. 2 (15:13) - Finally, we replace our basic beat with a drum loop that's chopped up, enabling us to simply replace the original sounds. We also increase the tempo to boost the energy and make some cosmetic adjustments to the beat.
