Videos
Introduction & Audio Setup (03:03) - Gary introduces what is going to be covered in the video series and explains how to set up your audio device correctly.
Browsing Presets & Components (07:48) - Here, we take a look around the user interface, going through the top panel, and you see how you can browse the presets and components, including the use of filters. We also check out the new Signal Flow view.
Amp Components (08:23) - This video explores the amp components and matched cabinets as well. We browse through a few different amps and demonstrate how you can change the parameters to change the tone.
Adding Speaker Cabinets (04:52) - Explore the different speaker components you can add and hear how they have a big effect on the overall tone. We first take a look at how to use the Matched Cabinet and Matched Cabinet Pro and examine the difference between the two.
Control Room (04:48) - In this video, we use the Control Room and Control Room Pro as the speaker cabinet section. These have multi-mic options as opposed to the Matched Cabinets, which only have two or three microphone options, so you have more tonal options with this cabinet emulator component.
Cabinet Impulse Response Loader (05:52) - Discover how to use the Cabinet IR Loader and how it differs from the other cabinet components that emulate speaker cabinets.
ICM Amp Models & Distortion Effects (06:22) - In this video, you learn what ICM is and the different amp and distortion effects that use this AI Machine learning technology to reproduce very accurate sounds of various gear.
Overdrive (03:35) - Learn how you can add distortion components to and saturate your tone. We start off by first looking at what overdrive is and how it colors and boosts the tone.
Distortion & Fuzz (05:49) - In this video, you hear the difference between distortion and fuzz and how these are more extreme than overdrive. You also hear how they add more harmonics and sustain to your tone.
Delays & Reverbs (05:41) - Here, we examine the time-based effects: delay and reverb. We explore some of the different components that are available and experiment with placing them at different points in the signal chain and the effect it has on the tone. You'll also hear the difference between mono and stereo delays and reverbs.
Modulation Effects (06:00) - Explore modulation effects and hear how they can add movement and depth to your tone. We look at the different tremolo, chorus, flanger, and phaser components and listen to how they differ and where to place them in the signal chain.
Tape Wobble & Vintage Vibrato (08:26) - This video looks at the new modulation lo-fi effects Tape Wobble and Vintage Vibrato. Learn how you can use these effects to degrade and modulate the sound for some interesting low fidelity sounds.
Dynamics Components (06:39) - Discover how to use some of the dynamic components to manage the level of your tone and/or add color.
EQs & Filters (05:19) - Explore the differences between EQs and filters. You can use EQ as a tool to help you shape the frequency shape of your guitar tone, and this can happen before or after the amp stage in the signal chain. Filters can act as creative tools to manipulate the frequency shape of your tone.
Signal Flow Sidebar (03:53) - The new Signal Flow sidebar adds a more efficient way to work with your signal chain. You can view the chaining order of your effects more easily here and move components around.
Pitch Effects (09:41) - Pitch effects can change the pitch of your guitar or act as momentarily pitch-shifting effects. You see in this video where to place these in the signal chain for the best results and how you can change the pitch range and settings on each pitch component. You can also blend and combine the original pitch with the changed pitch to create pitched octave effects.
Noise Machine (07:32) - In this video we look at the Noise machine lo-fi effect and see how you can use it to generate analog noises into your signal chain. They can be used in creative ways to color your tone and add a sense of ambience.
Loop Machine Pro (06:28) - Here, Gary shows you around the Loop Machine Pro UI and details how to use it to record audio parts and overdubs.
Tools (11:05) - Under the Tools section are handy containers you can use to build up more complex setups. In this video, Gary shows you how to use the Split Mix to build up a dual amp setup. You also see the Split Crossover Tool in action as well as the Split M/S Tool.
Assigning Macros (05:08) - Learning how to assign parameters to a macro control can give you more control over the parameters you tweak the most on the components in your signal chain. In this video, you'll see how to assign macros and make your tone-tweaking more efficient.
Using MIDI Learn to Automate Pitch & Wah Effects (07:05) - See how you can assign parameters to external MIDI controllers using the MIDI Learn functionality, both in standalone mode and via the plugin in a DAW. This is a great way to have expressive control over components like the wah and pitch effects.
Building a Vintage Clean Tone (04:56) - Here, you see how to build up a vintage-sounding clean guitar tone and how Gary uses assigns macros to key parameters in the chain.
Building a Dirty Overdriven Tone (05:13) - Watch how to build up a dirty, overdriven tone with some 90s flavor by using Split Mix with two different overdriven chains. You'll see how to blend them together and apply some post processing to the chain for fine-tuning.
Building a Crossover Bass Amp Tone (07:19) - Discover how to build up a bass tone using the Crossover Mix tool so the low band will have a different signal chain than the high band. The low band will have a typical bass amp tone, while the high hand will have a slightly saturated guitar tone. You'll see how you can blend the two together to get more punch from the bass tone.
Building a Swedish Metal Tone (04:16) - Learn how you can use the new Chainsaw Distortion component to recreate the infamous Swedish metal tone.
Building a Modern Metal Tone (07:34) - Here, Gary builds up a complex modern metal tone using Split Mix with two different hi-gain amp signal chains. Pre and post effects are also added before and after the amps and speakers to tighten up the tone and give it more attack.
Building a Lo-Fi Guitar Tone (09:45) - To finish off, you'll learn how to use the new lo-fi effects to create a lo-fi Guitar Tone. The Tape Wobble and Noise Machine are the primary components used, but you'll see how delays, distortion, EQ, and reverb effects can also help provide a lo-fi sound.
