Intro
Intro & Song Demo (03:34) - In the first video, Thomas introduces the course and plays through the song that we'll be creating in the following videos.
Making the Samples
Main Sample Pt. 1 (12:03) - To start off the song, we first make a sample for the main section of the track. This sample will later be sliced to make the melody for our beat.
Main Sample Pt. 2 (10:40) - Next, we wrap up the songwriting for the first sample and also apply some simple effects to help everything blend together.
Outro Sample Pt. 1 (10:30) - For the beat switch up, we'll make a second sample, which will be darker and more downtempo.
Outro Sample Pt. 2 (12:34) - Thomas wraps up the creation of the sample and also applies some simple effects.
Flipping the Samples (15:49) - This video covers sample chopping, re-pitching, and basic sample arrangement. This provides a strong foundation for our beat and some interesting musical textures to work with.
Making the Beat
Programing Drums Pt. 1 (08:45) - Next, we take a look at the drum programing and sample selection for the beat. Thomas also shows how a soft clipper plugin can be used on the master to add saturation and energy to the track.
Programing Drums Pt. 2 (08:26) - To wrap up the programing of the drums, we add some final percussion and processing to the samples.
Programing 808 & Synth Bass (15:16) - Learn how to program an 808 bass for the song. This video also covers a vintage Moog-inspired bass patch that will be used for the second half of the song.
Beat Switch Up & Additional Drums (12:17) - Thomas shows how to program the drums for the second half of the song, which will be bouncier than the drums in the main section and with more of a half-time feel.
Track Arrangement & Additional Layers Pt. 1 (08:04) - Next, we take a look at some final layers for the song and begin to work on the arrangement for the track.
Track Arrangement & Additional Layers Pt. 2 (10:12) - This video wraps up the arrangement for the song.
Mixing, Hard Clipping, & Analog Console Emulations (11:04) - To finalize the production, we next look at how saturation and console emulation can be used to mix the beat. This adds harmonics and also blends the different elements together.
