Ozone 11 Explained

If you're into mixing or mastering your own music, you know that iZotope's Ozone is one of the most full-featured tools around. In this Ozone 11 video course, Production expert Eli Krantzberg will take you through Ozone 11 in full detail, leaving no stone unturned and providing plenty of musical demonstrations so you can see and hear it in action. You'll learn how to make the most of the various modules (Dynamics, Maximizer, Impact, Clarity, etc.) and explore all the parameters in the process, leaving you will a complete working knowledge of the software and the confidence to use it effectively on your own productions. These videos are for new Ozone 11 users.

Videos
Welcome to the Mothership (05:29) - Get started with a bird's eye view/flyover of the newly refreshed Ozone 11 mothership plug-in.
Metering & More (07:39) - Learn how to adjust global metering and gain match options, the undo history, channel processing modes, and more.
Equalizer Module (08:12) - Explore the basics of using the Equalizer module and hear it in use with the new transient/sustain channel mode and delta function to rebalance some drum transients.
Dynamics Module (08:34) - Discover the various parameters available in the Dynamics module for either single- or multi-band compression and limiting.
Dynamic EQ (08:11) - See how this combines traditional EQ with threshold-based detection, allowing you to fine-tune frequency adjustments when they exceed a predefined level. An example is demonstrated combining this with the new stem focus and transient channel mode functions.
Maximizer Module (09:55) - With a completely new UI redesign, the revamped Maximizer module now includes upward compression, where low level material is raised at the same time as reducing loud peaks.
Clarity & Low-End Focus (08:10) - The brand new Clarity module uses hundreds of bands of spectral processing technology to ?pull the blanket? off of dull-sounding mids and highs to unmask the mix and give it depth and presence. Combined with Low End Focus, which is designed to intelligently reduce muddiness, and increase low end impact, the entire range of your mix gets nuanced, tweaking as necessary when simple EQ and dynamics might be too coarse.
Impact (04:55) - Designed to control the micro dynamics of your signal, Impact provides micro expansion and compression with extremely fast envelopes, optionally synced to tempo subdivisions, to tighten or expand small amounts before hitting more full range dynamic processors.
Stabilizer Module (05:47) - Discover how this adaptive mastering equalizer reacts to incoming audio and applies frequency corrections to tonally balance the signal or tame resonances.
Imager Module (06:53) - Hear how this is used to adjust the stereo width of your mix using multi-band stereo imaging.
Master Rebalance (03:16) - Discover this exciting machine learning technology that is the foundation of the new Stem Focus mode, which allows you to subtly pull up or down the vocals, drums, or bass from within a finished mix!
Master Assistant (07:56) - Discover the flagship Ozone AI technology that analyzes your song and builds a processing chain with settings based on genre-specific targets. See how to make broad-stroke adjustments to the underlying modules directly in the Master Assistant Controls view.
Using Custom Targets (04:15) - Learn how to import your own target curves for Master Assistant to use as the basis for analysis.
Match EQ (05:25) - See how this digital linear phase EQ module is used to analyze and capture the frequency spectrum from a reference track and then apply the contour of the frequency analysis to your own music.
Referencing (03:57) - Follow along as this function is used to help compare and contrast your mastering chain in progress with up to 10 reference tracks in real time.
Vintage EQ (06:00) - Explore this beautiful emulation of the famous EQP 1A and MEQ 5 Pultec EQ modules, where unique tonal focus is achieved by simultaneously boosting and cutting in similar or overlapping frequency ranges with different curves.
Vintage Compressor (03:54) - This colorful feedback-based compressor features a versatile multi-band detection filter, simple controls, and lots of flavor! Hear it in action in separate instances of Ozone 11, each using different stem focus modes.
Exciter Plug-in (06:08) - Discover this great-sounding configurable saturation module, used as an individual plug-in in this example, that offers up to four individual bands of multiple types of saturation.
Spectral Shaper (02:53) - Hear how this module is used to apply high-resolution attenuation to problematic frequencies across the spectrum with configurable time constants, timbre adjustment, and a variable full-spectrum action region.
Vintage Tape (04:51) - Explore the parameters of this Studer A8 10 tape machine emulation and hear how you can add the frequency, phase, and saturation characteristics of magnetic tape to your mixes.
Vintage Limiter (04:46) - Hear how this Fairchild 670 emulation offers a classic warm analog limiting tonal contour to a mix as an alternative to the cleaner, more modern Maximizer module.
Presets, Codec, Dither, & Options (07:19) - Learn how to manage global and module presets, how to use the I/O section codec and dither panels, and how to set global options for the look and performance of Ozone.
Shhh - Don't Tell iZotope About This (02:21) - Explore one final unconventional yet potentially very useful Ozone 11 workflow suggestion.
