Videos
Exploring the User Interface (05:45) - Learn about the basic layout of all the controls in MODO Bass 2 and get a taste of some of the available sonic manipulation.
Basic MIDI Control (08:31) - Learn how to use key switches and other MIDI messages to control the fundamentals of your bass parts. This includes which playing style is used, switching between slaps and pulls when using the Slap playing style, and generating bends, slides, and vibrato.
Triggering Other Articulations (08:26) - Take a look at examples incorporating hammer on/pull offs, legato slides, muting, ghost notes, harmonics, and sustain into bass parts.
Fingers! (05:03) - See how key switches are used to force the right hand to play with either the index or middle fingers, picked notes to be either upstrokes or downstrokes, and slapped parts to be either slaps or pulls.
Controlling the Sound of the Strings (08:47) - Explore ways to control which left-hand positions on the fretboard are used, which strings are used in which ranges, where on the instrument the strings are plucked, the number of strings used, and also generate percussive note-off sounds that add to the rhythmic feel of a bass part.
Playing the Acoustic Basses (04:37) - Discover the two new upright double bass instruments in MODO Bass 2 and see how to incorporate the stop string and slap sound key switches into parts programmed in your DAW.
Special Key Switch Notes (05:24) - Learn how to integrate the E5 key switch note that triggers the stopping of all the strings (modeling the bass player?s hand stopping them) into your bass parts and how to use key switches in the upper range of the keyboard to move the position of the bass player's left hand on the neck of the instrument.
Play Style Parameters (05:06) - Get a comprehensive understanding of how the parameters on this page of the MODO Bass 2 interface affect the tonality and timbral qualities resulting from how and where the strings on the instrument are excited.
String Parameters (03:56) - Explore the sonic nuances introduced to the bass sound when modifying the properties and parameters of the bass strings and fretboard.
Electronics & Misc. (04:52) - Hear how the various choice of pickups and circuitry influence the sound of the electric basses and how the mic choice and positioning affect the sound of the acoustic basses.
Studio Page (05:00) - Discover the different amp and stomp box effects available for the electric and acoustic basses and see how the preset saving function works.
Working with Patterns (07:03) - Learn how to use the Pattern browser to find ready-made bass parts in a variety of styles, import and customize them in your DAW, and add your own to the database so they are available in future searches.
Creating a Bass Line Pt. 1 (08:08) - Follow along as a bass part for the first section of a song is created in real time. Ghost notes and string stop sounds are added, a slide is added, and note lengths are tweaked after the initial part is recorded.
Creating A Bass Line Pt. 2 (05:23) - String muting automation is added to the part recorded in the last video, and the next section of the song is developed with a more legato bass part. Note lengths are then edited, and note-off noises are added after the recording of the new part.
Creating a Bass Line Pt. 3 (02:56) - A sparse but busier funky-style percussive bass part is added for the coda of the song, and the muting automation is re-introduced to tighten the bass sound up.
Bass Sound & Final Play Through (04:55) - The sound of the bass is tweaked, a preset is saved for future recall, and we listen to a final play through of the full track.
