Videos
Introduction & Interface (07:46) - This first video introduces the series and outlines the interface of the Opus plugin, in which we load Voices of Soul.
Sustain (05:29) - Next up, we cover the sustain articulations and the velocity layers, which allow you to introduce dynamic expression into parts. These simple single articulations are perfect for stacked chords.
Legato Instruments (05:48) - Discover how the Legato instruments can create smooth transitions between notes when played legato and sustain articulations when played separately. We also cover how to move between articulations using the mod wheel.
Combo Mod Instruments (03:07) - Learn how the Combo Mod instruments allow us to use both the mod wheel and velocity sensitivity to move through different syllables, enhancing the realism of performances.
Combo RR Instruments (03:02) - We cover the Combo RR instruments next, with which we can move between alternate syllables to create a more natural sound when playing stacked chords. We also demonstrate the velocity sensitivity of these patches to again enhance the realism.
Mod XFade Chords (03:25) - Explore the Xfade chords next and see how to fade using the mod wheel between different dynamic layers to move from soft to loud articulations.
Phrases (03:45) - In this video, we work on the long and short phrases, which are mapped to root keys and can be selected using the mod wheel. This allows us to use adlib phrases, resulting in more options for productions requiring soulful vocals.
Keyswitch Instruments (08:14) - Learn how to use key-switching to move between legato articulations, phrases, and sustain syllables. This allows for a fine level of control in terms of the articulation you choose for the track.
Keyswitch Phrases with FX Presets (02:49) - Next up, we demonstrate and explain the keyswitch phrases with FX presets, which are the same as the previously covered phrases but with the addition of preconfigured effects chains.
Player Tab Pt. 1 (09:52) - In this video, we cover certain functions included on the Player tab - especially the performance scripts, including round robin reset, portamento, legato, and other. We also outline how MIDI CC can be used to add some expression into these performance scripts.
Player Tab Pt. 2 (11:54) - In this second part, we cover the envelope, articulation pane, stereo double, and mixes/master sections. We also stack voices and route the sounds to separate outputs.
Voices of Soul in Action (16:12) - Hear Larry try out various instruments to create a vocal bed to an old school-style loop.
Expression Pedal (02:18) - Finally, an expression pedal is integrated into the setup to have overall control over loudness to again further the scope for dynamic performances.
