Arturia Pigments Sound Design Explained

Studio wiz Thomas Cochran presents in-depth Arturia Pigment video tutorials! This plugin is a sound designer's dream, and this course will teach you how to harness its formidable sonic prowess and bend it to your will. Thomas demonstrates many effective concepts and techniques with a series of real-world applications, so you'll be able to put your newfound skills to work right away! These videos are for those who already know their way around Arturia Pigments. If you are new to Arturia Pigments, start with Arturia Pigments Explained® here first.

Bass
House Bass (16:12) - In this video, Thomas introduces the course and shows how to make an analog-sounding bass stab. This synth patch utilizes the analog oscillators and filter models.
DnB Bass (14:58) - Next, discover how to make a DnB inspired patch that utilizes amplifier and notch filter modulation to create a phase-y distorted bass.
Chomp Bass (14:25) - Watch how to make a heavy bass that uses the function controls to craft a complex, but cohesive, modulation for the patch.
Wavetable House Bass (14:58) - Learn how Arturia's pigments can be uses as a hybrid wavetable and FM synthesizer to create complex-sounding bass tones easily. This patch also uses amplifier envelope modulation combined with filter movement to create a snappy bass pluck.
Keys & Pads
Textured Keys (13:44) - See how to make a retro-inspired keys patch that would be great in a synthwave track or pop production. This patch will use multiple synth engines to achieve a textured bell sound.
Underwater Keys (11:29) - This patch is about re-synthesizing audio samples to create complex keys patches. The patch will be created from two sampler layers: a main audio sample for the body of the sound and then a granular layer for added texture.
Ambient Pad (16:25) - Discover how a simple FM bell sample can be transformed into a complex pad with the sampler in Pigments. This sound will be layered with a piano to create a textured ambient pad.
Lo-fi Synth Keys (11:50) - This video shows how to take a simple triangle wavetable and transform it into an interesting lo-fi keys patch through the use of several strategic modulations.
Synth Rhodes (11:53) - Explore how you can use Pigments as a interesting sampler. In this video, we'll take a simple Rhodes keyboard one-shot and transform it into a synthetic sounding keyboard.
Leads
Deep House Lead Stab (14:46) - Discover how to create an analogue-inspired deep house stab. Also see how stacking multiple delays can fill out the sound, giving it an interesting rhythm and sense of space.
Vocal Lead (13:24) - In the final video of the course, Thomas shows how to easily create vocal synth patches by re-synthesizing audio material. This allows for interesting vocal formants to be created easily without the need for complex wavetable modulation.
