Mastering with Logic Pro Explained

Logic Pro wiz Larry Holcombe delivers in-depth Logic Pro mastering video tutorials! See and hear how to master tracks in 3 different genres (Electronic, Pop and Country) with only Logic Pro and its built-in plug-ins, from start to finish. You also get the pre-mastered audio track files and reference file for match EQ so you can import them into your Logic Pro or Logic Pro X session and follow along with Larry as he shows you how to master using Logic's powerful tools. These video tutorials are designed for those who are new to mastering with Logic and its stock plug-ins.

Videos
Using Linear Phase EQ for Frequency Re-Balancing (12:54) - In this first video, we use Linear Phase EQ to roll off the high and low frequencies of the pop track and add in some extra warmth to balance the frequency spectrum.
Advanced EQ Techniques with Linear Phase EQ (10:00) - Next, we use Logic's Match EQ to apply the frequency curve of a reference track onto our pre-master, and then use Linear Phase EQ to balance the Mid/Side bands of our track, as well as fix problems in the L/R balance.
Tape & Vintage Eq Saturation (10:36) - Now we'll cover tape and harmonic saturation using Logic's Vintage EQ options which allows us to add fatness and richness, as well as musically round off harsh transients.
Phat FX, Overdrive & Distortion (07:46) - In this video, we now use Logic's Phat FX, Overdrive and Distortion effects alongside some Linear Phase EQ to focus the saturation in certain areas of the frequency spectrum that need to be enhanced.
Adding Groove & Front/Back Perspective (13:32) - Larry now uses Logic's amazing Compressor in clean and classic mode, plus musical release times to increase front back perspective and groove.
Peak Limiting & Density Compression (12:06) - We'll now experiment with using very fast peak limiting compression and a smoothening density compression setting by tweaking our attack, release, threshold, and ratio parameters for amazing compression results.
Parallel Compression/Saturation (13:29) - Larry now shows you how to apply compression in parallel to a loop to make up for deficiencies in the frequency spectrum. We do this by using dense compression combined with EQ and saturation.
Multiband Compression & Expansion (11:25) - In this video, Larry demonstrates how to use multiband compression with the Multipressor plug-in, and then expansion using the Expander plug-in. This allows us to really hone in on areas of the frequency spectrum and work on them in different ways.
Imaging with Stereo Spread and Linear Phase (11:12) - Next, investigate using Stereo Spread, Linear Phase and a combination of Vintage EQ and Linear Phase to hype up the high frequencies of a slightly flat pre-master.
Limiting with Logic Pro (07:22) - In this video, we cover how to bring a track up to commercial levels using Logic's Adaptive Limiter.
Mastering the Pop Track "Soulbox - So Good" (14:27) - Watch Larry master the track from start to finish using EQ, tape saturation, compression, stereo spread and limiting.
Mastering “Get To Know - Sunshine ft Femi Santiago” (16:54) - Now see and hear Larry apply linear phase EQ, compression (in line and parallel) alongside stereo spread and limiting to bring the track up to the required volume.
Mastering “Stranded on a Planet - When You Think About Me” (14:21) - Larry now applies the techniques you have learnt throughout the video series to master the country track.
Mastering the Electronic Track "Lift Me Up" (13:03) - Wrapping up the video series, Larry shows you how to use the techniques you've learnt to complete a master on the electronic track.
