LO-FI GLOW Explained

Synth expert Larry Holcombe presents detailed Native Instruments LO-FI GLOW video tutorials! Learn all of LO-FI GLOW's features and functions, as well as how to use it creatively to design your own lo-fi sounds and presets, perfect for today's music that requires "retro-sonically distressed & vibey" sounds. As a bonus, you also get the LO-FI GLOW patches that are created in the videos. These videos are designed for new LO-FI GLOW users.

Videos
The Interface & Saving a Preset (07:14) - In this first video, we cover the interface of LO-FI GLOW and also how to save a snapshot sound.
The Layers, Lo-Fi & Wavetable Controls (10:01) - Next up explore the parameters of the sound section including the Layer Controls, the Lo-Fi Effects and Lo-Fi Wavetable Effects controls. We also cover the difference between the normal waveforms and the wavetables.
The Filter Section (11:43) - Now learn how to link the filters of each layer, the different filter types, and the parameters located in the filter section. You'll also discover how keytracking is implemented in LO-FI GLOW.
The LFOs (11:22) - Learn all about the 2 LFOs, routing them to different parameters, all while demonstrating the LFO controls in the process, including how to choose Waveforms, Rate, Re-Trigger and Fade In.
The Envelopes (10:34) - Watch how to assign Mod and Amp Envelopes to parameters on LO-FI GLOW. The attack Curve Control is also explained with examples to show how you can create more natural attacks, including the relationship between the Mod and Amp Envelope Release controls.
The Modulation Section (04:44) - Next up, see how to assign Velocity, Aftertouch and Mod Wheel modulations to synth parameters, to provide yet another way of adding interest and movement to your sounds.
The FX View (04:14) - Explore the various ways you can use the FX View to create custom FX chains, which can then be re-ordered for different sonic results. We also demonstrate Saving and Loading FX Chains for later use.
The Sequencer Pt. 1 (09:05) - The powerful sequencer is now covered in this video, specifically, the way in which you can change pitches within your sequence. You'll also learn about the various sequencer controls including Setting Rate, Swing, Step Number and also the powerful Key Locking feature.
The Sequencer Pt. 2 (10:05) - Now explore how you can use Velocity with the sequencer to create more rhythmic interest, as well as how to layer routings for the sequencer to have only one of the layers affected.
The Sequencer Pt. 3 (07:01) - In this video, learn how to make the sequencer modulate Macro Parameters, and create some really nice rhythmic movement in your parts. You'll also see how to create Polyrhythmic effects by offsetting the length of two of our macro sequences.
The Macros (06:31) - The Macro controls are now covered in detail, showing you how to assign parameters to macros and set ranges for multiple parameters, as well as add Custom Curves that determine how the macros respond.
Settings (04:56) - Next up learn all about the Settings Tab in LO-FI GLOW which allow you to discover how you change your Play Modes, Pitch Bend, Portamento and Velocity Curve.
Sound Design: LO-FI GLOW On Other Sounds (09:26) - In this video, watch how to use LO-FI GLOW to layer noise samples to Drums, Bass and Keys to enhance a track idea.
Sound Design: Lo-Fi Chords (08:47) - See how to create a Lo-Fi Chord sound from scratch by layering a waveform with a noise texture, to create a really nice retro flavored keys part.
Sound Design: Dirty Bass (11:39) - In this last video, see how to create a killer Dirty Bass patch using a modulated wavetable, including how the LFO Modulation is combined with the Mod Envelope, which modulates the LFO Rate, creating extra movement and character!
