Synth expert Larry Holcombe serves up a comprehensive reFX NEXUS video tutorial series! Learn all of NEXUS's features and functions as well as how to craft modern, radio ready sounds with this incredibly powerful virtual synth. These videos are designed for new NEXUS users.

Version 3
Introduction (04:57) - In this video, we introduce the concept of NEXUS and its architecture. We then have a look at the ReFX cloud and download and install an expansion so we can demonstrate this process. We also discuss setting your library folder location.
The Preset Librarian (04:14) - In this video, we cover preset organisation including adding favourites, using the search feature, saving presets and creating bookmark folders.
The Filter Modifier Section (03:31) - In this video, we cover the Filter Modifier and how it allows us to globally edit our individual filter settings for each one of our layers. We cover Cutoff, Resonance, Envelope and Velocity controls.
The Amp Modifier Section (02:37) - In this video, we cover the parameters that relate to our Amp Modifier including the Envelope settings, Spike control which adds an extra percussive hit, Drive, Spread and Pan.
Front Panel Delay & Reverb (12:09) - In this video, we cover the parameters of our front panel Delay and Reverb controls and also our way of locking them so we don?t need to audition them on for presets unless we want to. We also discuss using EQs and Modulation to tailor the effects tails.
The Master Filter (02:15) - In this video, we demonstrate the Filter types and Cutoff and Resonance controls which allow us too alter the sound of our patches.
The Macro Controls (03:31) - In this video, we assign one of our Macros to affect multiple parameters in our Modulation Matrix.
The Arpeggiator Pt. 1 (09:21) - In this first part of our look at the arpeggiator, we cover the arp modes, octaves, speed, gate and length controls. We also go through the filter options and investigate strummed and swung settings.
The Arpeggiator Pt. 2 (03:52) - In this second look at the Arpeggiator, we cover the Arp presets and also the Pattern Editor allowing our patterns to be edited using the velocity, transpose, sustain and rest options.
The Sequencer (01:57) - In this video, we cover the sequencer which allows us to create more complex patterns using a combination of chords and monophonic parts.
The Trance Gate (09:26) - In this video, we cover the Trance Gate and demonstrate how to use it to create rhythmic interest from sustained notes.
The Modulation Section (08:40) - In this video, we outline the parameters for Vibrato, Pitch Bend and Portamento, our LFO?s and also the Key zones.
The Modulation Matrix (04:28) - In this video, we look at the Modulation Matrix and route Modulation sources from the source list to affect our Filter Cutoff and Delay mix.
The Effects (06:38) - In this video, we cover our 4 insert effects and our main effects combining them to further sculpt our sounds.
Layers (04:07) - In this video, we look at the Layers tab and the way we can change Volume, Pan, Transpose and Detune for each Oscillator. We also look at a more complex Layer configuration.
The System Tab (02:05) - In this video, we cover the Instance and Preferences windows located in the System Tab.
Making a Track with NEXUS Pt. 1 (12:23) - In this video, we make a basic Future House idea using Kicks, Claps, Hats, Bass, Piano and Lead sounds from Nexus 3.
Making a Track with NEXUS Pt. 2 (05:54) - In this final video, we add Rides and various FX sounds and make a simple arrangement.
3.1.3 Update
NEXUS Version 3.1.3 Update (02:46) - In this video we demonstrate how to download the latest update to Nexus 3 from the reFX Cloud. Following installation, we show off the new features including new skins, undo and redo and the audio waveform display.
Version 4
The Librarian, Shimmer Effect & Otter (10:50) - In this video, we cover the new features improvement to the librarian. We also cover the brand new shimmer reverb effect in Nexus 4 and also the new otter module for big bold compression! Finally we investigate the potential for glitch effects with the glitch module.
Insert FX, Arpeggiator Enhancements & Advanced Features (07:33) - Next up, we introduce some lo-fi tape saturation, retro grit and noise and old school digital distortion with 3 new Nexus 4 effects. We then continue on to introduce some arpeggiator enhancements and miscellaneous feature improvements.
