Videos
Introduction (05:06) - In this video, we introduce some overarching principles of mastering and what we are trying to achieve using Ozone 9.
Mastering with Master Assistant Pt. 1 (09:06) - Larry demonstrates using Ozone 's Master Assistant in Modern Mode, and takes a Tropical House style beat and creates a custom mastering preset using Ozone 9's new and improved Master Assistant.
Mastering with Master Assistant Pt. 2 (06:45) - In this video, learn to use Ozone 9's Master Assistant in Vintage Mode, using the previous Tropical House style beat, and injects some analogue richness to the track. Finally we match EQ curve and loudness of a reference track.
Tonal Balance 2 (09:17) - Larry now covers comparing our master to the thousands of tracks analyzed by iZotope to ensure that we can maximize the potential of our track. We also access an Ozone 9 EQ from within Ozone 9 so we can make appropriate adjustments.
Referencing (05:20) - In this video, we outline Ozone 9's referencing tools, loading in two reference tracks to which we compare our pre-master. We are then able to match the respective volumes by changing a setting in the I/O section of Ozone 9.
Match EQ (10:47) - See how to apply the sonic characteristic of one track to another, giving it a different vibe. We also use a pink noise and -6db reference slope to fine-tune our mix balance.
Fixing Mix Imbalances with Low End Focus (05:33) - In this video, we outline the use of Low End Focus to bring out the low frequency transient information of a kick drum which is being overpowered by a bass part.
Fixing Mix Imbalances with Master Rebalance (04:57) - Discover how to use Master Rebalance to boost a vocal which is sitting too quietly in the mix, and then reduce the volume of a drum part to approach the problem from a different angle. We then fix a Techno track that's lacking low end using the same tool.
Mastering Country Rock Pt. 1 (14:19) - In Part one of this video we use a combination of Ozone 9's modules to master a country rock track while also using Master Assistant to create a transparently limited master.
Mastering Country Rock Pt. 2 (06:57) - We continue the mastering process by now applying Imaging and Vintage EQ and Vintage Limiting to create a retro vintage vibe. We also analyze the mix using Tonal Balance.
Mastering a Techno Track Pt. 1 (12:40) - In this video, we now master a Techno track to get it really loud and in your face, keeping with the genre, by using saturation and parallel compression, as well as discuss some strategies for loudness.
Mastering a Techno Track Pt. 2 (07:39) - We continue mastering process by applying Imaging and Parallel compression and EQ to squeeze as much out of the Techno track as possible.
Mastering a Pop Track Pt. 1 (14:14) - In this video, we master a pop track using compression to glue things together a bit more, as well as parallel processing to dial in more low mids for punch.
Mastering a Pop Track Pt. 2 (04:35) - In the second part of this process, we finish off by creating our limited master and comparing it to the pre-master to gauge the improvements made.
