Loop Based Production Explained

Studio guru Kenny Gioia delivers a loop based production video tutorial series! If you're new to producing with loops, Kenny will show you how to produce a full track from scratch using only loops and basic DAW plug-ins. The loops used in the videos are also included so you can follow along with your DAW. This series is perfect for those who are just starting out producing beats and tracks.

Videos
Introduction & Pro Tools Setup (06:39) - In this video, we introduce the track we???re going to be producing, expand the .zip file, set up Pro Tools for importing of loops and set the song tempo.
First Loop: Piano (07:57) - Next, Kenny takes you through importing your first loop. He goes thru elastic audio and using it to set your loops to the song tempo with the highest quality possible.
Snaps, Kick, Snare & Claps (11:26) - In this video, see how to add more loops, and focus on some of the drums to make them match the tempo of the song.
Synth 1, Bass & Bells (07:06) - Next, Kenny brings in some musical / pitched loops. Not only do you need to stretch these files but you also need to adjust their pitch to match the key of the song. See how!
Hi-Hat, Tamborine & Shaker (06:54) - In this video, Kenny brings in a few more percussive loops and teaches you about about REX files, which are Loops that automatically stretch to your song???s tempo.
Synth 2 & 3 (04:56) - Kenny now finishes off importing loops with these final 2 synths, which serve as the melody for the pre-chorus and chorus for the production.
Reverb & Delay FX (11:32) - To make these loops really shine, Kenny reveals how to bring in some ethereal effects to create some interesting spaces, featuring reverb and delay that auto pans to the tempo of the song.
EQ & Compression Pt. 1 (11:46) - Next, Kenny shows how you can creatively use EQ and compression to tighten up your loops and prepare them for the final mix.
EQ & Compression Pt. 2 (06:41) - In this video, Kenny continues using stock EQ and compression to get all of the tracks sounding their best.
Reverse & FX Loops (10:13) - Moving on, Kenny imports a few reverse and FX loops to create transitions from one song part to another. While these are not loops, they still are an important part of the production process.
The Song Arrangement Pt. 1 (12:38) - In this video, Kenny starts arranging the song, which involves duplicating or repeating the 4 bar loop throughout the song and removing the elements you don???t need in each section, which then creates a dynamic arrangement.
The Song Arrangement Pt. 2 (11:33) - Kenny continues the arrangement process, creating a chorus and cutting up the loops via grid based editing to create stuttering repeating patterns.
The Song Arrangement Pt. 3 (03:32) - In this video, Kenny finishes off the arrangement by creating an outro and an ending where the song breaks down over time as opposed to building up. Muting effects are also featured.
The Final Mix (Bounce) (04:39) - In this last video, Kenny sets up the Final Mix or bounce, and shows how to correctly create a stereo file of your song and plays the entire song from start to finish to be used as a reference.
