Videos
Initial Mix Balance with Mix Assistant (14:31) - In this video, we use Relay plug-ins on every track alongside the Visual Mixer to utilize the new Mix Assistant feature to set a good balance focused around the vocal. We also investigate panning in the Visual Mixer to set our left/right balance as well.
Tweaking Mix Balance Using the Visual Mixer (05:54) - See how you can use the Visual Mixer to tweak the balance created by the Mix Assistant. We discuss altering volume, pan and stereo width settings of individual sounds and also using Snapshots to audition different mix settings.
Basic Gating with Neutron 3 (09:33) - In this video, we use Neutron 3's amazing Gate Module to clean up the kick, reduce the sustain of the snare body and try out tightening up the drum loop.
Subtractive EQ with Neutron 3 Pt. 1 (13:11) - Learn how to use Neutron 3's Equalizer plug-in to help bring into focus the frequencies of our Kick and Snare sounds. We also offer an explanation of the importance of subtractive EQ.
Subtractive EQ with Neutron 3 Pt. 2 (13:31) - Continuing on, explore Neutron 3's Equalizer to remove unwanted frequencies and enhance the separation of the sounds in the mix.
Basic Compression Pt. 1 (07:26) - In this video, we start off by organizing our sounds into busses and then apply Neutron 3's Compressor to the drums to allow them to sit back in the mix slightly.
Basic Compression Pt. 2 (09:21) - We continue the process by applying Neutron 3's Compressor to other mix elements, allowing us to stage sounds front to back. This creates a nice 3D space with front back separation enhanced.
The Sculptor Module (10:10) - In this video we apply Sculptor to de-harsh our guitars and enhance our bass sound. We outline how you can use this plug-in to make sounds in your mix the "best version of themselves."
Using the Track Enhance Feature (09:46) - See how to apply the new Track Enhance Feature to create a custom preset for the lead vocal and vocal harmonies. This allows the vocals to be brought out of the mix. We tweak the preset to sit correctly within the context of our mix.
The Masking Meter (07:55) - In this video, discover how to use the Masking Meter feature to add separation to the 2 guitar parts, helping them to individually stand out. We also EQ the harmony vocal against the lead vocal to again enhance the separation between the two sounds.
Building Channel Strips from Scratch (13:28) - Explore how to build a custom channel strip for the intro drum loop, including transient shaping to enhance the kick drum. We then go onto introduce sidechained dynamic compression on the bass triggered by the kick of the drum loop to increase clarity and headroom.
Harmonic Excitation (11:49) - In this video, we now apply Neutron 3's Exciter Module to tame transients in the mix and also increase thickness and vibrancy.
Parallel Processing with Neutron 3 (08:13) - Discover how to use Neutron 3 in parallel to create an area of density for the musical parts in the mix which helps bring them out and add to the loudness of the track. This is done using a combination of EQ, Excitation, Compression and Sculptor.
Basic Master with Neutron 3 (12:47) - In this final video, we use Neutron 3 to create a basic master with some gentle EQ, Sculptor, Saturation and Compression. Finally we use the Limiter feature to gently limit the mix to get a loud version to send out to labels etc.
