Start From a Blank Project
Starting a Project (05:49) - This videos starts with a Blank Project and then adds Instruments. Next, Input Devices Preferences are covered and Instrument Sounds are tested with a MIDI controller. Then Time and Key Signatures are added, as well as the Title Text.
Note Input Methods
Keypad (04:11) - The Keypad establishes conditions for entering and modifying Notes, Rests and Articulations in Step Entry. Its features and functions are explored here and keyboard shortcuts are shown as well.
Mouse Note Input (08:13) - Mouse and Note Input preferences are reviewed, then using the Mouse and Keypad for Note Entry is demonstrated. Learn how to create Triplets and Quintuplets, and Copy/Paste selections using the Option/Alt key and the letter R.
Duration Before Pitch (06:21) - Mouse and Note Input preferences are reviewed, then using both a QWERTY and MIDI Keyboard for note entry is demonstrated. Editing Note Pitches with up/down arrows and Selecting Score Elements with the left/right arrows is also covered.
Pitch Before Duration (04:52) - Mouse and Note Input preferences are now shown for when using a MIDI keyboard for note entry. Moving the Caret, Entering Notes, Adding Markings, Locking Note Durations, Enharmonic Equivalents, Creating Ties and Rests are covered in detail.
Flexi-Time (10:22) - Learn how to record MIDI in realtime. Preferences and the Flexi-time dialogue settings are covered, as well as Recording Set Up, Recording, Converting CC 64 (sustain pedal) to Pedal Lines, and using Renotate Performance to edit your notation. Articulations & Dynamics (10:09) - This video covers Adding Articulations to Notes, Copying to other Staves and removing them. Unpitched Percussion (08:27) - Starting with Percussion Staves Preferences, this video demonstrates using a MIDI Keyboard to create a two voice Drum Part, including how to use Repeat Signs to flesh out the Drum Part performance. Next, creating a single line snare part is shown, as well as exploring the Edit Instruments Dialogue and using Note Heads to generate performance techniques.
