EXHALE Explained

There's nothing out there quite like Output EXHALE, a virtual instrument with a unique vocal engine that's both powerful and modern. In this video tutorial series studio expert Eli Krantzberg reveals all of its secrets as well as how to use it to breathe life into your productions.

Videos
Seven Steps to Installation (02:49) - Learn how to download the Connect app, use it to download and install the EXHALE content, authorize EXHALE, and run a batch re-save in order to enable it to load quicker within KONTAKT.
Signal Flow (04:36) - Discover how sound is generated and shaped in EXHALE. Sounds are triggered in either Notes, Loops, or Slices modes. Presets contain either one or two sound sources with independent volume, pan, tune, EQ, ADSR, & playback direction controls. The signal then runs through a selection of six effects modulated either by LFO or step sequencer. Seven insert effects without modulation are then available. Four macro sliders are used to control multiple parameters simultaneously for real time manipulation of the sound.
Notes Mode (08:11) - Explore the three different source types used in Notes mode: one shots, pads, and tape loops. See how to edit per source playback direction, EQ, amp envelope, & loop settings. And discover how to set patch based glide and velocity sensitivity.
Loops Mode: Bank Settings (05:40) - Loops mode enables 13 individual loops per loop bank to be loaded and triggered. Explore the controls that are shared across each entire loop bank including: volume, formant shift, playback speed, EQ, ADSR envelope, velocity sensitivity, and monophonic mode.
Loops Mode: Note Settings (02:38) - Explore the note based settings available independently for each of the thirteen loops in a loop bank, including volume, tuning, panning, reversing, looping, and sample start offset.
Slices Mode (04:19) - Learn how to globally transpose Slices mode (and Loops mode) so that it matches the key of your music.
The Rhythm Panel (05:29) - See how waveform shapes or step sequencer patterns are used to modulate parameters in the six mod effects available in the FX Engine.
Flux Control (05:35) - Hear how Flux is used to apply a secondary step sequencer dedicated to generating fluctuations in the main modulation values.
Mod Effects (09:55) - Discover the various forms of sonic manipulation and movement achieved by modulating EXHALE’s six built in mod effects with the Rhythm Panel and Flux settings.
Insert Effects (06:11) - Hear what these processors can do at the final stage of EXHALE’s signal flow.
Macro Sliders, Presets & Automation (05:44) - Learn how to customize EXHALE’s macro sliders, save and manage presets, and assign MIDI hardware controller assignments.
