1. When did you start dabbling in music?

I started dabbling in music at a very young age, probably around 6 years old. I think it was percussion first, then piano, then guitar, and finally bass. I come from a very musical family as my father is an amazing jazz saxophonist and my older brother a very talented guitar player. I heard the greats growing up playing on my dad's record player and my brother's classic rock tapes and albums. I feel so lucky to have been exposed to arguably the best music ever created, like I was.

2. What training have you had?

I had teachers for most of my early years and went to SUNY Old Westbury for Jazz performance where I studied drums and bass under jazz master Ken McIntyre.

3. When did you get into recording?

I started my recording career as most did in my generation, with a 4 track Tascam Portastudio. I saw the birth of Digital Audio and have been hooked ever since. In fact I still have the old Apple IIc in the attic somewhere. I've used all the Mac DAW's in one form or another and I'm still amazed at how they develop and grow.

4. People you have worked with/for?

I have performed with too many talented musicians to list and had moderate success producing dance records in the 90's. I then found my true calling when I met Asa Doyle, my business partner and launched Groovebox in 2003. It has been pure satisfaction ever since.

5. Why are you so good at training people?

I think I'm good at teaching and training because I know how to cut to the chase and get to the good stuff that people want to know about and, I'm also a great listener...
